Winter finally got here, and it’s getting cold in the mornings. I’ve been taking hot showers, but then my skin feels itchy, why is it?
My skin gets itchy after taking hot showers on acold day, why?
colder, dryer air and too hot water can cause itchy, dry skin in some people. have you heard of winter itch? might be what you have. you shouldnt take very hot showers or baths. i have a problem with very dry skin even in the summer. i've tried different lotions and they havent worked. try vaseline, not the lotion.
Reply:After being cold for so long taking a hot showers causes your body to react in a way trying to adjust your body temperature. The itchiness of your skin is the contact of your cold blood to the hot water
Reply:The heat %26amp; soap have stripped your skin of oils. Try taking a slightly cooler shower and/or using a milder soap. Or moisturize BEFORE you dry off. Yes, before. It soaks into the skin better.
Reply:Because hot water dries out your skin!
Reply:your skin can take that hot temperature"""" you have to try and keep the water temp down, you a good p,h soap and shower quickly Dr.s suggest to you tibid water which is not that warm %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; keep it cooler and you will find a big difference even in your hair
Reply:The itch is due to dryness. Try using a soap like Dove. Also when you get out of the shower PAT yourself dry instead of rubbing the towel against your skin. Rubbing agitates the epidermis. Then you want to use a vitamin E based moisturizer while your skin is still lightly damn which will allow it to absorb into the skin better.
Reply:The hot water diminishes the amount of water left in the skin. It is usually more noticeable during the winter months as you generally take an even hotter shower to get warmer. When you do your skin dries out causes dry itchy skin. I have heard it is called "winter itch". Use moisture replenishing skin care products, that contain Little or no alcohol, as the alcohol will only dry the skin further. Also the type of soap you use can dry the skin. Aloe, vitamin E, lanolin and glycerin are good ingredients to look for when purchasing a body lotion or soap. Happy hunting!!!!

My skin has been itchy lately, but not from dryness... could it be allergies?
The weather has recently changed from ice cold and snowy, to 50 degrees and rainy. Could more allergens be in the air causing my skin to itch?
(My skin gets itchy in the summer if I'm outside or near the woods, it's not a severe itch)
My skin has been itchy lately, but not from dryness... could it be allergies?
Yea it could be caused by skin allergies but you might want to go to the doctor for an allergie test
Reply:I ususally get itchy like that too when I let like 4 days go by with out showering. I practice kick boxing daily, so with all that persperation the itch appears after day 3. But on day 4 I either shower or go to the dermatalogist for an injection cause it gets bad. MAybe you could have the same thing. Sprinkle on baby powder and that could help with the smell. Some people find it offensive. (Thats what I've been told)

Skin very itchy and burning?
the itching is around the pubic area. i shaved my pubic hair to see if i had crabs but im not sure if crabs cause the skin to be scaley. My pubic hair area is extremely burning which causes me to itchy cause its somewhat like a sharp poke. it feels as though it's wet or something
Skin very itchy and burning?
It could be this dry winter air or get some Hydrocortosone creme 0.01% from the drug store it's over the counter. Now that you've shaved your going to go crazy. Hair growing in.
Get some crab soap while your there to satisfy yourself. The creme may help the itching from shaving.

My skin is itchy!!!?
Is it just the winter or what? My skin has been itching like crazy here lately. My hands are dry!! I started bathing in baby oil. I have been using Vaseline Hand stuff. In the pink pump thing. My sister bought a bunch at Sam's, (sent some to me in a Rubbermaid bowl.) It has helped a lil but I am still real dry and itchy. I carry Avon lotion non scented in my purse. I keep a Bottle of Johnson's Baby lotion with Vitamin E and aloe at the computer, because I use this on the kids also. When I use the bathroom, I try to remember to put some on! I lotion several times a day. I am still itchy! What do you suggest?
My skin is itchy!!!?
Scratch it! Jeeze why you have to get permission first! %26lt;sarcastic%26gt;

Reply:I have the some thing SO use Vitamin E i have it and it really helps
Reply:Im an itchy someone also. "Gold Bond" is my favorite solution. It works so well. I prefer the powder but they have lotion also.
Reply:My skin is always itchy in the winter. Winter time is less humid, and the heater makes the air even drier, which dries out our skin. I have found the best thing for me is to put lotion on all over my body, right out of the shower, while I still have some water on my skin. That helps trap some of the water and gets me through the day! I also have to keep lotion on my hands, especially after I wash them.
Reply:Drink extra water and use a humidifier in your house. And take a look at other lotions: Sometimes Vasaline just doesn't cut it.
Also, try using a non-allergenic laundry detergent: You might be getting allergic to the detergent you use. And take a look in a local nutrition store for soap: It could be that your soap is drying your skin out too.
Good luck!
Reply:This can happen with the cooler dry weather of winter. Try using Dove soap............it helps me.
Reply:Could be a combination of dry winter air and something else. Maybe a new laundry detergent. Baby oil doesn't really relieve dry skin, it's good for makeup removal and getting stickers off stuff. I find it clogs my pores and makes me break out. Try a body lotion that isnt fragranced. Your dry skin may be extra sensitive right now....
Here is an old trick that works to relieve itching for hives and chicken pox, plus great for your skin. fill an old stocking or sock with oatmeal, tie tight , run a warm bath and squish the oatmeal sack under the water. Good luck
Reply:i hear you!!! me too...i've found that the dove moisturing body wash helpsme - and i thought nothing ever would - i found a heavy duty cream for my hands, feet and elbows not long ago - costs a little more, but seeing as you use so much less it probably costs the same - it has urea in it - i think diabetic people use it and you can only find it at the drug store - ask the pharmasist (abou $10/bottle) - hope it helps!!
Reply:Wel first off make sure your lotion doesn't have alchol in it, this coul dbe drying you out more. I know vaseline lotion has some in it. You should get aveeno or lubriderm. They will keep you moist. Secondly try taking brewers yeast, you can get it at any vitamin store. I used to take this when I was younger and had really bad exczema on my hands. It helped alot. if it still persists then you should go see a doctor. More than likely it is the weather causing this. Weather has been weird all around the country.
Reply:Aveeno Lotion and Aveeno Baths. The colloidal oatmeal in this product helps stop the itching and the dry skin. Always use unscented. Use a mild soap such as the Aveeno Body Wash Unscented or Dove Unscented. Take Primrose Oil Capsules 500mg per day. These contain linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid needed by the skin. Also, drink a lot of water to keep your skin hydrated.
Reply:I had this! I tried gold bond but that just made it burn, try a product in a white pump bottle called Sarna, its specifically for itchy skin while many other lotions like gold bond are for dry skin.
its should work wonders!

My skin is itchy and leaves also an itchy swelling , but could it be bed bugs ..?
I live with my brothers and a few weeks ago, their room was attacked by bed bugs , we sprayed and renewed the beds. Then this week my skin began to itch , leaving itchy large swellings . But I have gone thru my own bedroom and I find nothing not even a crawling insect.
I have changed everything. Do you think it could the bedbugs? But why cant I see them?
I thought I could be reacting to some food or just some new spring allegies.
Thank you. Help!
My skin is itchy and leaves also an itchy swelling , but could it be bed bugs ..?
It is probably bed bugs! Once they are in one room, they spread very quickly to all rooms occupied by sleeping humans. We just got bed bugs and had to call an exterminator in. They hide in dark corners, sometimes even in the walls, and it is not easy to get rid of them. You have to do more then just spray them and change your sheets. Reactions to bed bugs vary for each person. For me it was bites like large mosquito bites that were itchy for days. For my dad it was a rash and itchiness. For my mom and husband they hardly noticed any kind of reaction.
Reply:see your dotor you might be allergic to the spray used to kill the bed bugs
Reply:maybe allergy
Reply:Sounds like hives to me.
Could be allergies or could be from stress.
You might want to see a Dr.
Reply:Buy new bedding %26amp; cover your bed in plastic.
Reply:sounds like you might be getting a reaction to what ever you sprayed on your bedding!!--wash them again!!--don,t use too much detergent though--as soap residue will also cause a burning sensation and red marks
Reply:Bedbugs are very small... still you should be able to see something. Usually, it would look like tiny bite marks, so they may not be the culprit.
It is the time of year where people are using sunscreen... sometimes that causes an itchy rash, so you may be correct in thinking it is something else - even allergies.
Reply:It might be pioson ivy. I had that stuff all last week. It itched and itched and left what appeared to be huge ant or mosquito bites. I would recommend benadryl and either a caladryl or calamine lotion to keep it from itching so it doesnt spread.
Reply:a couple of questions, do u live near oak trees. why i ask, i ended getting skin rashes after sleeping in my sister house out in the woods in kissimmee florida. i also thought it was bed bugs but it turned out that oak trees give out this pollen in the air at night, and since she leaves the windows open at night (during the winter and spring), the pollen travels inside the house to the bedrooms.
if not it could be new allergies, or even you ight have a reaction to the laundry cleaner. the best thing for you to do if ask your doctor or even the local pharmacy what they recommended.
Reply:eczema
Reply:you need to go to the doctor and they will check it out and see what it is.. there is several different things that can cause this.. they can give you a presciptions soap and medication to stop this...i have something that it is nerves i guess and i just get a red pump and and it itches and spreads and i have been on antibiotics and special soap.. it clears up some but comes back....i notice i start getting itchy almost every day and especialy when i am nervous.. i know yours is probably not the same as this.. it could be also something like lice or well i do not remember the name of it but you need this special shampoo and soap to clear it up.. i really would just go have it checked out...you can not see this stuff at al.. you just itch all the time ...have you been around chickens or anything like that?? anyway this is what i think you should do.and the sooner you go the better.. spraying and renewing the beds does not get rid of them or their eggs...so go to the doctor.. you could try lice shampoo and lice spray for beds but i think it would be better to know where this is all coming from...

My skin is itchy and i have small bumps on my arms and chest from the sunbathing. Is this an allergy?
Ive grown up at the beach.. but now in my early 20's i've been trying to stay out of the sun and tanning beds, and I ALWAYS wear SPF 15 on my face and neck. But just recently this summer , everytime i'm in the sun, the next day all of my skin is itchy and i have these small random 'bumps' that extremely itchy. Am i developing an allergy? It is not dry skin, I have been sure to ultra moisturize. Any suggestions?

You are getting heat rashes. These happen when you are exposed to heat allot. Use anti itch cream and that should help the itching
Reply:i got sumthin like that a few times and i was told its sun poison.. u dont have it very long.. and i use anti itch cream and aloe stuff for it.
Reply:You should go ask your doctor but in the meantime use a higher sunscreen like SPF 30.

Why is my skin SO itchy (I put lotion on my whole body just after I bathed at 10 am)?
I went to the doctor today for a check up. On the whole ride there,my skin was VERY itchy! It is still itchy! Its itchy on the bottom of my foot,my leg,my toes,my elbow,my hand,my palm, and my belly. Why is this happening? I just put on dry skin lotion. I've never ever had the chicken pox. It just started itching this morning. Its so itchy,I can't even walk! I don't put on lotion often on my body. Please help me!

Why is my skin SO itchy (I put lotion on my whole body just after I bathed at 10 am)?
First of all, if you don't use lotion very often you could be allergic to the stuff you slathered all over. Take a lukewarm shower, use soap and washcloth to get that crap off right away.
Take a Benadryl or a Claritin asap. Use Eucerin calming cream, go buy some. Do not apply topical anithistamines, not do use hydrocortisone cream, either.
I'd take the Benadryl or Claritin and shower right now. You're making me itch just thinking about it!
Reply:sounds like you are probably allergic to something in the lotion you used. I would take another shower and wash it all off, then get some benadryl and take it to help with the itch.
Reply:Maybe it's the perfume or alcohol in the lotion that is drying out your poers.
Reply:You could be allergic. Do take a Clarityne and wash with a mild soap. Avoid chocolates and fatty foods for a while.
If the problem persists for a long time, go to the doctor and have general tests. Don't panic, it is probably a temporary problem, but in rare occasions if it persists it could indicate some problem that has nothing to do with the skin itself but comes from another condition.
Reply:Girl, I ain't tryin' to be funny, but you might have scabies! Check your itchy spots for little burrow tracks from the bug. Does it itch mainly at night? Just a suggestion you might wanna look out for.
Reply:some lotions have perfume in it so your may be reacting to the ingredients ..not sure where you live but if its cold there your skin gets drier in the winter time so when you add the creams %26amp; lotions then itchness begins try using over the counter creams with no perfumes in them . if your not sure ask at the drug store they can help you
also shower with warm water not too hot this can cause you skin to act up also did you tell you DR this as you were there?
Reply:Well, If you have been camping lately, or walking around in bushes/trees (woods) then you might have touched poisen ivy! even if you avoided "all the posien ivy" there are many forms of it. you might have had an alergic reactions to something in your shower! the first time i used some body wash, i thought i did not have ANY alergies, but i was alergic to it! so what i could recomend is if your not alergic to any ingredients in oatmeal, try taking an oatmeal bath! hope your itching goes away!
Reply:Itching can be caused by a number of things
when did it start? Do you have a rash of any kind? need more information to offer any help dear please elaborate
you might simply be allergic to that lotion or get real serious and start talking skin cancer .. there are millions of reasons we itch could you give more information please? thanks
Reply:why didn't you mention this to the doctor when you were there.
anyway i suggest you get some benadryl that is an antihistamine and will be found in the cough cold allergy part of the pharmacy . you can ask the pharmacist for a cheaper brand of the same drug it is often here at least a couple dollars cheaper.
the other thing you should do if you live in the north is get some oatmeal for treatment of dry skin winter itch its called they sell that at the drug store too .
i suggest you take the pills first wait one hour take another
if that does not fix you up then try the bath .
if after all that your still going nuts with the itch then go back and see the doctor.
if at any point your mouth tongue face or neck swell up get to the hosp right away have someone else drive. if you start to have breathing difficulty go to the hosp right away .

Try this remedy: mix together, in this order:
1 part lecithin (from the health food store, in the baking section)
1/4 to 1 part shea butter,
2 or 3 parts castor oil
3 or 4 parts grape seed oil
if you have really bad itching or irritation add 5 - 20 drops of teatree oil
warm it up till the shea butter melts.
add twice as much aloe vera gel as the total amount of oil. For example if you end up with a half cup of oil, stir in a cup of aloe gel. Mix or shake upntil blended and creamy.
apply to hair and/or skin as needed. Hope this helps.
