How can i cure my dog's itchy dry skin?

A tablespoon of vegatable oil in the dog food...and use a medicated shampoo...it worked for our dog...

How can i cure my dog's itchy dry skin?
If it has fleas you can use piff paff.
Reply:Hydracortizone spray or Benadryl (but talk to your vet about that first). I give it to my dog for behavioral reasons but it has helped her skin. She has a history of severely dry itchy skin.
Reply:First you need to deterimine the cause. There are many products out there that will help, but using the wrong product will make it worse. Talk to your vet to determine the cause, and get recommendations on products to treat the problem.
Reply:It can either be caused by the shampoo you're using or the dog food you are feeding him, or even fleas. Take him to the vet and they will be able to help you.
Reply:put a little virgin olive oil in with the wet food and in a few weeks her coat will be great
Reply:you can try a human shampoo for dry and flaky skin ive done it before..but remember it wont just go away in seconds give it a chance...
Reply:use a dog shampoo that contains oatmeal this will sooth the skin
Reply:You need to take our dog to the vet and rule out any forms of mange, as my friend thought her dog just had itchy skin but it turned out to be demodex mange.
Reply:go to a pet supply, they will help you
Reply:tablespoon of olive oil everyday in his food. don't bathe him more than once a week. if it continues...u may need to see vet
Reply:If it's not fleas or ticks, but just dry skin...they have special shampoos for that kind of thing. You can look for them at any pet specialty store. Just make sure you always use dog shampoo....never people shampoo because that will just make it worse.
Reply:when i had my st bernard, she used to get hot spots. the vet told me to use vegetable oil. just make sure that it gets on the skin and rub it in. it doesnt hurt the dog. theres nothing harmful in it.

if the dog licks it off, thats ok.

otherwise, if its fleas, flea stuff like frontline works. sevin dust his bed and spread on the carpet like you do carpet fresh. leave it on for a couple of hours then you can vacuum it up. the sevin dust is good for the yard too.
Reply:Pet stores have lots of different products for this. Spray on moisturizers and leave in conditioners work well, if the itchiness is caused by bathing or something, and not a medical reason.
