Reply:lotion
Reply:Dont bath your dog too often. It can cause their skin to dry out. Probably should take your dog to the vet. I did. My dog had allergies.
Reply:Pour some vinegar all over and let stand for a couple of minutes then rinse off well, try to use a mild soap for this like a baby's bath or soap :-)
Reply:CALL HIS VET AND ASK......EXPERIMENTS R NOT ALWAYS GOOD......CARE ABT THE POOR DOG....HE MAY HAVE SUM KIND ALLERGY OR INFECTION WHICH MIGHT NEED TO BE TREATED BY AN INJECTION......
Reply:don't bathe it too frequently. Make sure the soap is rinsed out completely. It will help dry skin out. Could be type of shampoo or flea dip. Ask vet for help.
Reply:We feed our dog fish oil, 1000 iu per day. He loves it but also his coat and skin have great luster to it, and the omega faty acids are supposed to be good for them as it is for us.
Reply:If the over the counter remedies don't do the job, then see your vet. I use to have a dog with the same problem, and sometime the condition can only be partially helped , even with professional care. You vet can advise you after he examines your dog to see what might be causing the dry skin condition in your dog.
Reply:I agree with Potts. Have had dogs for many years and used fish oil. I have also used oatmeal shampoo. If the dry itchy skin persists I would call the vet however because he may have another problem.
Reply:ask ur vet. doc.
Reply:Use an oatmeal-based shampoo (available at vet) and a real good conditioner. If this doesn't help, bring her to the vet, my pup was given an antibiotic and it really helped.
Reply:dont overwash your dog..this causes skin problems..if you do wash it often, use an oatmeal, aloe based shampoo.
Reply:try an oatmeal based shampoo, with lanolin in it. Also a small drop of oil on food may help.
Reply:You might want to take your dog to the vet to rule out any food-related allergies. As others have said, don't bathe your dog too often. If it's cold where you live, you might want to invest in a doggie jacket so your dog's skin isn't exposed to the cold (may be making it itchy).

Also, some dog owners I know put an oil supplement on their dog's food to help the skin and coat. Check out jbpet.com for such supplements.
Reply:Go to your local pet store. There are actual products for dog's who get dry skin. I can't remember the name brand but the store will be able to help you.
