Why when I get cold my skin becomes itchy, red, and often I get white welts?

I dress extremely warm, and it still happens....Its not just where my skin is exposed it's my legs and wrists mostly but sometimes my stomach and back too. DOes anyone have any idea why this happens or what to do to stop it?

you have cold urticaria, you can try benadryl or zyrtec when you know you're going to be out in the cold. But as with any allergy syndrome avoidance of the trigger is the best treatment.
Reply:Is it like your hands go red with white patterns all over- ive got it but nothing to worry about its called ranods disease and many people have it. Its known as a blood flow condition when parts of your body get cold, my hands turn white sometimes even with gloves - your condition seems a bit different though, i only get it on my hands and wrists and its not itchy at all - see a doctor maybe if its worrying you
Reply:I'm a doctor,so i'll try to ans. medically, your'e skin can become red, itch %26amp; so on by many conditions, the crux, you have to find what causes it,how? well, you have to rule out whether it is either cold, tight clothing, too warm clothing, the season, your'e profession, any food type, itch or scratch. From what you say it seems tight clothing or too warm clothing, cancel them out to know if its cold that causes it by wearing loose and not too warm clothes, if it aint cold then it must too tight clothing especially around the wrists, the belt and socks. Remove this factor and if it still happens then it must be a seasonal or genetic condition and for that you'll have to go to a doctor,
