Ok, i have itchy skin. i've tried every cream avalible. any ideas?
I used to live on E45 cream when I had eczema when I was younger. Hydrocortizone cream also works well on smaller areas. You've probably tried these already, but if you give them some time to work they may help you.

If all else fails you could see your doctor or a dermatologist and they might be able to prescribe something for you.
Reply:Eucerin.

It's the end-all and be-all of all moisturizing creams. There's no scent, and works really well.
Reply:try benadryll (not spelled correctly)
Reply:Itchy skin usually means you have dry skin, so you need a good moisturizing lotion. I use "Hydro Plus+ Super Hydrating Lotion" by Cyber Colors (I'm not sure where you can find this if you're in the US--I got mine in Hong Kong) and it works like a charm. I use this during the night.

During the day, I use a day lotion with SPF15. The sun dries out the skin too! Also by Cyber Colors ;)

I've got itchy skin only at night! What may be the causes?

And it's not mites or bedbugs, as it starts even before I get to bed. Usually starts around 10pm. I'm scratching till I turn red. What could be the cause? Help!

I've got itchy skin only at night! What may be the causes?
You may be allergic to your laundry detergent. There is a hypo-allergenic laundry detergent called Dreft that you should try. It sounds like you just have sensitive skin. Good luck!
Reply:you should take a bath
Reply:nerves...are you stressed during the day? do you sleep well??
Reply:sound like some sort of allergy--do you shower at night?? soap allergy or new detergent? do you have a cat or dog that could possibly have a new case of fleas? talk to your dr. to help pinpoint the cause but in the meantime use benadryl cream and take a benadryl tablet at night.
Reply:The surounding area,dust-mite,blow by the fan.Hv you try apply anti-septic to mop the floor.
Reply:It will be mites.

Demodex mites. It doesn't mean that your sheets or you are dirty. It is normal but causes irritation in certain individuals.

It is very common for the symptoms to only appear or be bothersome at night. I can't remember why though.

(you can do a test for them yourself if you have a powerful enough microscope, have a little search online to see how to do it if you're interested. A derm can do the test too if they are interested but the usually don't know much about them)

These mites can actually cause or exacerbate some forms of acne and rosacea so it's important to seriously consider the possibility of them even though you don't seem to think it likely.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demodex_mit...

It could potentially be an allergy to anything. Do you wash your face around this time? Brush your teeth? Have a drink of something? Have a snack? Put cream on?

My bet is that it's those mites though.
Reply:Sounds bad.....you should seek a dermatologist for his/her opinion right away. Why suffer? Ok..hmmm here goes.......try changing your clock at night......... :0

I get really itchy skin all the time especially during baths and red spots what could this be?

HI,

Short list:

eczema

psoriasis

versi color tenea

topical yeast infection which does act up in warm water.

LAmmy

I get really itchy skin all the time especially during baths and red spots what could this be?
probably eczema. my daughter has it and it really breaks out when you use frangrances, like bubble baths and certain soaps. but go to the dr.s to make sure. start using dove soap, dont use bubble bath and use cetaphil lotion. your dr. can give you a steriod lotion that you can use when it gets red and bumpy.
Reply:it might be an allergy condition, either to the soap gels or shapoos

that you use. consult an allergologist
Reply:You may be allergic to the soap you are using. You may have sensitive skin. The redness may be due to scratching or you are scrubbing too hard on your skin when you are taking a bath. If you are using loofas or salt/sugar scrubs that may explain the reddening, stop using it. Try using a hypoallergenic soap or baby soaps. There are also available non soap body wash like cetaphil. I also have sensitive skin and it itches a lot when I use soaps like dove pink or caress , so I use a baby milk bath and works fine.
Reply:Consult a dermatologist. Please visit your nearest Genito-urinary Medicine (GUM) clinic if it is an STD. Please also check with your partner.
Reply:Maybe your skin just dries out? Sometimes I get just like that too, especially after a hot bath. I get red spots around my neck and my chest and it feels itchy and dry. Occasionally I might get a cold sweat as well. It happens if use the soap excessively. Try to get a natural soap without many chemicals and use a sponge with a limited amount of soap instead of trying to cleanse using a lot of soap with your bare hands. Also at the end rinse with cool water before getting off. I've done these thnigs and it has helped me alot.

I have really itchy skin and no rash. Any clues on what is wrong?

I usually get pretty dried out in the winter but this is the worst its ever been. Also scratching leaves solid red marks which concerns me. Thanks for your help.

I have really itchy skin and no rash. Any clues on what is wrong?
Hi JimmyTHeburrito

Here are a few testimonials on healing the issue.

TEA TREE OIL AND APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

3/4/2007: Vinny (highbury21@gmail.com) from Atlanta, GA writes: "I have tried Apple Cider Vinegar and Tea Tree Oil. I find that Tea Tree Oil is best if placed first, and then about a few hrs later, the application of ACV should relieve it. Give it about 3 days, and there ought to be no itch. I love ACV!!!!"

TEA TREE OIL, OLIVE OIL, DRIED OREGANO

2/25/2007: Deanna from Cincinnati, OH writes: "I have chronic itching. I have tried the "very expensive" prescription that my MD gave me, but my mother told me to try:

1 part tea tree oil,

2 parts olive oil

and dried oregano.

I spray it on and not only does it calm the burning and itching but it moisturizes my skin. I haven't had to use my expensive skin cream or take Benedryl in a long time."

Best of health to you
Reply:As you get older it can get worse ..usually hot showers/ baths and winter make it worse for sure..try some lubriderm or neutrogena conc. hand cream..go to a derm if thats not helping

http://www.carpal-tunnel-symptoms.com
Reply:hard water is most likely a partner w/the dry weather in causing the itch....if you can get one a water softener makes a HUGE difference, we've had one 3 years now and it also makes everything made w/water taste better, and plumbing (including water heater) will last longer too
Reply:Dry skin is most common in your lower legs, arms, flanks (sides of the abdomen), and thighs. The symptoms most often associated with dry skin include:

Scaling

Itching

Cracks in the skin

Dry skin is common. It happens more often in the winter when cold air outside and heated air inside cause low humidity. Forced-air furnaces make skin even drier.

The skin loses moisture and may crack and peel, or become irritated and inflamed. Bathing too frequently, especially with harsh soaps, may contribute to dry skin. Eczema may cause dry skin

It may help to change your bathing habits:

Keep baths or showers short.

Use warm (not hot) water.

Use as little soap as possible. Limit its use to face, armpits, and genitals if you can. Try mild cleansers like Aveeno or Cetaphil or mild soaps like Neutrogena or Dove.

Dry your skin thoroughly but gently -- pat, DON'T rub.

Take baths or showers less often.
Reply:You could just have really dry skin. Try lotion obviously, but also don't take very hot showers and drink water to hydrate your body.
Reply:You may be susceptible to eczema. However, as with all skin conditions, only a specialist can really determine the type of disorder you are suffering from.

During winter, many people tend to experience dry skin. So, moisturizing is key this period. However, not any kind of lotion will do. Avoid the use of those with fragrance or with synthetic chemicals.

My dog has itchy skin. i have tried all kinds of shampoos. any suggestions of what else i can do?

My dog had itchy skin and was very itchy, licked her paws, scratched her belly, scratched her mouth and ears. It was getting so bad that she was bleeding due to her scratching. I went to the vet and they thought it could be the food that I was giving her, so i changed her diet, but she still kept on itching. After a few months on trying different shampoos, i then decided to see a vet who dealt with dogs with skin irritations. He was able to do tests on her, and we found out that she was itching due to different types of dusts in the air. Like when we get irritations we take medication to de-senistive ourselves. So now she is on medication, every 1 month she has a injection to "de-sensitive" her skin,if she has a flare up of a irritation, i have tablets ready to give her. It sounds like your dog has the same problem as mine. It was totally frustrating to find the problem, but now she never scratches and its fine now.

My dog has itchy skin. i have tried all kinds of shampoos. any suggestions of what else i can do?
some dogs have allergies and shampooing all the time can make this worse.

i would go the vets and see if you can get him on some meds to try and help.

i mean itchy skin is not nice and it can lead to infection.

best thing is to find out what is causing the itchy skin and go from there!!!
Reply:overbathing can cause dry itchy skin

flea bite dermatitis is another culprit..

bacterial skin infection can occur if itching goes untreated.

how about a vet visit to rule out skin issues..

MALASEB shampoo ( www.1800petsmeds.) as directed may provide some relief,, but you MUST find the underlying cause.

FOOD ALLERGIES are also quite common
Reply:Stop washing him: My guess is that he is suffering from dry skin.

Try adding oily stuff to his food. If that doesn't work, ask a vet for suggestions.

Now, I did just have a thought: Olive oil is edible. And it is also a good moisturizer for human skin. So I don't think it would hurt your dog if you try to massage it on him. But you'll want to do this somewhere that you wouldn't mind getting messy.

Good luck!
Reply:make sure you have a veterinarian dermatologist approved flea preventative on your dog (frontline / advantage / advantix / revoltuion) to ensure your dog does not have a sensitivity to flea saliva or flea allergy dermatitis. you can also try giving your dog diphenhydramine (benadryl) 1 mg per pound to try and relieve some of the itching. your dog may also have food allergies, so you might try switching to a limited antigen diet like brown rice and salmon or venison and potato. best of luck to you, allergies can be frustrating.

oh, one more thing, give your dog 3v fish oil capsules, those are excellent for the skin and give your dog extra nutrients.
Reply:As long as the vet has ruled out the most obvious causes, I would bet it's food allergies. They sometimes take a long time to manifest. Don't overshampoo, and use a gentle shampoo used for allergies. Try switching his food to something with no know allergens, such as corn, wheat or soy. I am going through the same thing, and would recommend switching to a raw food diet. There are many great products out there. Good luck!
Reply:An oatmeal base shampoo should work. Try a humidifier to put more moisture in the air and maybe change his dog food. My dog suffered the same thing and the vet suggested that I wash him weekly (and really scrub) with a natural oatmeal based shampoo, get a humidifier and changehim from Purina to Nutro Natural Choice and it cleared up!
Reply:try adding a teaspoon of olive oil on his food. don't add too much or you'll have a mess on your hands. or you could feed him some sardines (yum) but again, start out with small portions.
Reply:How often do you bathe your dog?

Bathing too often may be drying out the skin.

And if you aren't getting all of the shampoo off when rinsing, that can cause skin irritation afterwards.

Itchy skin can also be due to allergies (to fleas, other insects, pesticides, a plant, or something in the food)

Poor quality food can also lead to poor skin and coat.
Reply:My dog has had a chronic itch for over a year. I had tried everything but nothing helped until about 2 weeks ago. I started giving her Brewers yeast tablets twice a day (I bought them from the pet store). Now at least you can pet her without her scratching herself. I think I finally found something at helped.

Brewer's yeast is often used as a source of B-complex vitamins and chromium. The B-complex vitamins in brewer's yeast include B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folic acid), and H (biotin). These vitamins help break down carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, which provide the body with energy. They also support the nervous system, help maintain the muscles used for digestion, and promote the health of skin, hair, eyes, mouth, and liver.
Reply:check the food intake of your dog, maybe shampoo is not needed, the itchy skin can be caused by the reaction of the dog to some of the food it eats.
Reply:What kind of food does he eat? I know alot of dogs are allergic to corn and other grains in their food. I would stop feeding him food with grains in it. Also biotin is a good supplement to give them. You can get it online or bigger pet stores carry it. Add it to his food once a day and you will probably notice a big difference. My golden used to have very dry skin and between the biotin and making sure she didn't have corn and other fillers in her kibble did the trick. It also helped with ear infections. She usually had 1-2 a year and now she never gets them. If you bring your dog to a groomer they should have products that would help also.
Reply:It sounds as though your dog may be suffering from allergies. There are several different reasons for allergies, but the majority of them result in skin irritation, itching, hot spots etc.

You can find out about the different kinds of allergies in dogs, and how to figure out which is bothering your pooch here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-a...

It's quite often a dog food that is causing the problems, and switching your dog over to a food that's especially designed for dogs with sensitivities or allergies can make a big difference. Find out more about dog foods that are especially designed for this reason at http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-f...

Meanwhile, there are a lot of products on the market that can help relieve the itching and discomfort that your dog is feeling. Shampooing often makes the situation worse by drying out the skin more. Using a shampoo with hydrocortisone (to reduce inflammation) or a hypoallergenic shampoo may help if a bath is necessary.

There are many lotions, sprays and salves with hydrocortisone that can help calm down the itching. Also dietary supplements that contain omega three fatty acids help to reduce skin problems from the inside out. You can find a great selection of these products at http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/canin...

best of luck, hope your dog is feeling more comfortable soon.

I have very itchy skin i was told via Dr.I have flat wort's but ......?
ummm i use to have very bad itchy skin to ,my Doctor told me one time that it was this that and everything else he could never stick with just one answer but n e ways you either have 1 dry itchy skin ,your allergic to something or it might just be what the Doctor said it was you can go th the closes store to you like Wall-mart or wall-greens and get something that helps you out
Reply:Search the web for skin disorders. Who knows there might be something else, drs do not always know it all.

Now for the itch, you can try a bynidryl stick, or even oragel (yes the tooth acke stuff) it will numb the skin so you will not itch. That works great for bug bites as well. LOL.

I have exima Not sure on the spelling LOL. I have found when I eat milk products it gets worse. I have hand lotion to apply and that keeps it from getting so dry and stops the itching.

Good luck.

I have red, itchy skin...I think it's ringworm, but my friend thinks that I'm allergic to something.?

I haven't changed deturgents, used anything new- new clothes, perfmes or anything. And I'm pretty sure that my rabbit does not have ringworm...I clean myself pretty well, so I'm pretty sure it's not any kind of fungus...what do you think?

I don't have any kind of blotches right now, but it's spreading to my collar bone, neck, ears, etc.

I WILL call my doctor, but I'd like to see you opinions, please.

If you have ringworm(circular red lesion with raised borders) get OTC antifungal cream and try it for a couple of wks before going to DR

Reply:It could be, ringworm is very common and contagious... u could have gotten it from anywhere... its nots just from animals... your friend could have given it to u!! It usually looks like a red ring... I would get it checked tho...

If u would have included a pic.. it would have been easier to diagnose.

Well first thing is first have you used itch begone cream?
Reply:vaseline
Reply:You could try vaseline, there isn't much that won't soften, of course it is a bit greasy.

You can get an aloe plant at most grocery stores for a fiver or so. That's pretty good, but it can leave a green sticky place.

My husband swears by plain ol' rubbing alchohol, for like back-acne itch. But you would want to be sure you want to dry out that spot of skin.

Have you been to the doctor? Maybe you have something?
Reply:epsom salts baths work wonders.follow the directions on the box,you can also add 1 cup of reg baking soda.

Can you get itchy skin by swimming 6 hours straight in a chloride swimming pool?

omg yes... the chorine in the water removes mosture from your skin... you may not realize it when you are swimming but after you are dry for a couple hours you will notice it... the itchyness is from the skin that is irratated from being dry... try some nivea lotion if its real bad or just some baby lotion if its not too bad... that will solve your itchy skin problem

Can you get itchy skin by swimming 6 hours straight in a chloride swimming pool?
It could happen, most anything can happen,I've found
Reply:yes it could happen, if your skin is sensitive to the chemicals. maybe their is too much of one chemical. but that only happened to me when i didn't put sunblock on. sunblock can help protect your skin from that also.
Reply:Yes,that's a chemical, and it can make you itch. And I don't suggest swimmming 6 hours straight.
Reply:Yes, definitely. The chlorine doesn't effectively kill all germs, but it helps. You need to wash the chlorine off periodically.
Reply:yes, most definitely.
Reply:Yes! especially if you don't take a shower immediatly afterwards to get all the bacteria off your body. Also your skin will itch from all the sun a couple of days afterwards. Or if you used a type of tanning lotion that had the tingle factors in it will cause your skin to itch also.
Reply:That's allot of Chlorine! Yes your skin is also dehydrated. Try a 1/2 cup of Baking Soda in your bath to balance your PH, then use a nce mild moisture lotion.
Reply:go n check this link https://shop.solardirect.com/pdf/pool-ac...
Reply:Sounds like you might be genetically weak. I swam in the pool everyday, for 8 hours a day, from the time I was 6 to 16 during the summer. I never got itchy skin, you may have picked up a fungus that is immune to the chlorine, go to a dermatologist just to be sure.
Reply:Uhh..derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Yes.
Reply:Yjou'd better believe it. Take a shower right after and use Dove or a body wash with a moisturizer.
Reply:yes, the cholrine reacts with your skin and over time can cause u to itch. diff ppl react to it differently as some itch right when they get in and others don't at all. (same idea as chlorine pools drying out or stinging eyes)
Reply:u could if u have somtin but nope not at all i do that all the time in my pool
Reply:Put oil on your body before swimmin in chlorine so your skin doesn;t dry out. And for the men...make sure you put plenty on your hotdog, we want to keep that smooth and silky soft during normal hours.

I have dry itchy skin due to hormones & thyroid problems. Any suggestions for relief?

I have terribly dry skin and two lotions have worked well for me. They are Cetaphil and Curel.

Everything else seems to contain alcohol which dries out your skin!

I have dry itchy skin due to hormones %26amp; thyroid problems. Any suggestions for relief?
lubriderm for severly dry skin- it has a maroon top on it... my daughter has very dry skin and the doctor recommended this after I had tried everything else... it worked like a charm.
Reply:Eucerin.
Reply:in your bath water put 1/4 to 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar (Heinz) it helps all kinds of skin problems
Reply:try a cortisone cream with a zinc additive see your doctor first though and get checked over thoroughly.
Reply:You can use the lotion Eucerin and an thyroid medicine or supplement. Overall see a physician.
Reply:Aveeno oatmeal bath treatments are excellent! Also do not use any skin treatments with zinc, it will only dry your skin further. Lubriderm severly dry skin is the absolute best. One thing that i tell my patients to treat their dry skin on their hands and feet is to apply a liberal amount of lotion and then cover feet and hands w/ socks while you sleep. It really works!! Good luck
Reply:Try Neem Oil for dry itchy skin. You can order it online.

Stay away from tea, pop, and coffee.

As for your thyroid problems...stop using fluoride toothpaste!

Go to the health food store and read the books about the thyroid. Certain foods can inhibit the function of the thyroid...broccoli, for example.

Do a parasite cleanse, then a kidney cleanse, and then finally a liver cleanse --- www.curezone.com. Doing a bowel cleanse can also help.

Take your B vitamins and a good mineral supplement (magnesium and zinc will make your skin softer).

Eat dark green leafy vegetables every day.

I hve random itchy skin throut my body?
You may have eczema, try creams but sometimes they'll make you itch just as bad so if they don't work try ice (even if you put bags of frozen veggies on your skin where it itch's)

Good Luck :-)
Reply:Probably you have eczema. Go see a dermatologist.
Reply:Go see a dermatologist. It's called eczema and can be treated with topical lotions. Most likely.

However, it could be a symptom of a more serious problem. A medical doctor needs to examine you to rule out possible infections or diseases that first present symptoms like eczema.
Reply:GO TO THE DOCTOR. I HOPE ITS NOT ON YOUR BUTT
Reply:We'll need way more information if anyone will be able to tell you what this might be. There are a number of things that could be causing this:

Alergic reaction

Too much laundry detergant leaving residue and irritating the skin

Scavies

Rash

More details would help but you should still see a doctor.
Reply:Try using some lotion your skin could be dry
Reply:Good Soap and water (bath/shower)

Reply:Skitchy throut itchy body butt death WHAT THE HELL DID YOU ASK!
Reply:Several reasons;

1 Dry skin, use more moisture cream

2 Allergies, consider antihistamines OTCs, (dontjust try it ask Doc first)
Reply:try a some lotion, or an oatmeal bath
Reply:it could be ezema. You should get the the dr. and let them diagnose this. My daughter has it and they prescribed elidel for it and it helps alot. Its like dry itchy patches on her skin. You can try over the counter products, Euricen works pretty good, but a medical opinion helps.
Reply:The Dove line is amazing!

Works wonders.

Reply:Benadryl will do perfect
Reply:Many people have already suggested Eczema and dry skin, and they might be right. However, also consider an allergic reaction, perhaps to a new detergent or fabric softener you're using. Allergies are known to develop spontaneously as well, so even products you've been using for a while might suddenly cause the itching.

Also note that Benadryl and similar products can temporarily relieve the symptoms, but are not a long-term solution, as they do not address the root cause.
Reply:I sometimes get extremely itchy on my arms and legs (as if there were bugs crawling on and biting me), and it actually has turned out to be tactile hallucinations. Go to a doctor because there are a million different things that could be causing itchy skin.
Reply:Sounds like eczema. You need to see a dermatologist and request a patch test. They put 10 stips of tape w/ 10 small rings on each strip on your back w/ multiple possible causes., ( pollen, dust, soaps... )

I had it done 8 years ago for the same reason. My cause was mercury....it was found in allot of red shades of tatoo ink. My reaction was caused by my tatoo.
Reply:The best thing you could do is to buy Anti itch cream like a cortisone cream and or take a anti histamine pill like benadryl and if it gets wore seek medical attention.
Reply:Dry and flaky skin?

My dog has itchy skin, however I dont want to give too many baths or the flea treatment will wear off...?

What should I do? Would benadryl be my next step?

My dog has itchy skin, however I dont want to give too many baths or the flea treatment will wear off...?
My dog has allergies and so she has itchy skin on her feet and face. I give her anti-histamines. I have tried ALL the over-the-counter ones suggested by my vet but they don't really help her all that much. Every dog is different, though. If there are spots where he/she is itchier, you can try topical applications that will help the itching subside for short times. You can also consult your vet. He or she will probably give you some good pointers or maybe suggest a prescription diet, though these are usually very expensive.

You might want to check with the vet, though, not just to help your pet's skin but also because, if he/she has an allergy, it can get worse or it can lead to other things like ear infections.
Reply:contact your vet, or bathe it with head and shoulders

Does fiber cause itchy skin?

i don't think it should. try to eliminate one thing at a time from your diet for estimating the cause of your itching, see a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen, good luck

What causes itchy skin after taking a shower?

I would suspect first of all, the brand of soap you use is either causing your skin to dry out or you might simply be allergic to it.

I say that from my own personal experience.

There is only ONE soap I've found during my lifetime that I simply cannot use, and that's Ivory bar soap. Anything else

(I use Zest) is not a problem but, Ivory causes my skin to itch all over after a shower (of course, it's been years since the last time I used it, so why should I use it now if it's going to make me itch?).

Try changing your brand of soap to start with and then your shampoo, conditioner, etc. (even the laundry soap you wash your towels with) until you've found the cause of the itching.

What causes itchy skin after taking a shower?
if its a hot shower you are having you could have eczhema or you could have psoarisis... or you're just creepily itchy.
Reply:yep....what he said ^^^^ you probably have dry skin...i suggest some lotion!
Reply:it means your skin is dry, warm/hot water actually dries your skin out, use lotion
Reply:dry skin from cheap soap and maybe hot water that can drain the moister out your skin. Maybe the soap scum left on your skin too.maybe you having an elergic reaction or some times to it can be the perfum in th soap. so there are some thing for you chec them out and see. Garanteed to be one of them.

Remedy for itchy skin?

I tried everything over the counter medicines(calamine,hydrocortisone,benadr... and still the itch is there went to the doctor prescribe some steriods, the itch still there. Is there anyone out there can solve my problem any remedy's for ichyness!!

Remedy for itchy skin?
when i have a itch i spray hair spray on it
Reply:Go back to your doctor. If steroids didn't work, then the doctor needs to find the underlying problem behind the itching. You may also want to ask your doctor for a prescription pill called Atarax. This is great for itching!
Reply:aloe vera at times works
Reply:Go to a pharmacy where they carry products from Mexico and buy a bottle of (Acetolia Robainia) apply it to your skin with a cotton when it is itching and it'll burn beautifully, scratching the itch and relieving it, mine itched terribly at bedtime so that I couldn't sleep, (sween cream) temporarily relieved it so I could fall asleep but then during the night I'd have to apply it again (twice again during the night) Finally I grew very tired of this, but doctors couldn't help me so after using acetolia robainia for about 1 year all symptoms finally disappeared meanwhile it always relieved all itches.

What causes itchy skin around the throat and jaw area? I'm a female and 50 years old.?

LONG --- BUT well worth the reading.

Make the connection.

I am a nurse with over 25 years experience in this area and I have seen a lot of people with various illnesses caused from chemicals and fragranced products as well as VOC’s in their homes, schools and workplace. This problem is growing as more and more chemicals are being introduced and used on a daily basis.

We are seeing more and more people with Asthma, Allergies, Hives, Eczema and respiratory illnesses. I can not emphasize how important it is to educate yourself about MCS and the harm you may be doing to your health by using chemicals and fragranced products.

If you or a loved one suffers from Asthma, Allergies, Autism, chronic headaches, reproductive problems, Migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, you need to read further and learn about the signs and symptoms of MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Most doctors will not inform you about this because patients as a whole like to walk out of a doctors office with a prescription for some magical medicine and they do not want to be told that their expensive new perfume or newly installed carpet may be the culprit. So, the doctor will give you medications and many of these meds either do not work or cause other health problems.

Chemicals and fragranced products are often the root of all evil when it comes to your health. Many of the below mentioned items are common triggers to sinus, asthma, itching, headaches, Migraines and allergy problems amongst other health issues. Get rid of them and your lungs will thank you and you will breathe easier.

And, it is not only personal body or cleaning products causing havoc on your health….many people become ill after wearing brand new clothing, dry-cleaned clothes, installing new carpet, painting, buying a new mattress or after home renovations because of the Flame Retardants, Benzenes, Formaldehydes, etc. used in these products. So the answer is NO, you are not imagining that 2 weeks after your home, office or classroom got renovated you started to become ill, get dizzy or have headaches. This is happening more and more these days and adults as well as children are becoming sicker and sicker.

Unfortunately, too many doctors compound the problem by prescribing chemical medications to try to alleviate the symptoms of an already chemical overloaded body and they rarely tell the patient to eliminate the chemical offenders. How many times have I seen people in the grocery store with Bounce, Glade Plug-Ins and Febreeze in their shopping cart along with a bottle of Benadryl , Migraine Excedrin and a box of Allergy Tablets ? Why don’t they make the connection?

Here is a Brain Spect Scan Before and after a whiff of perfume:

http://www.ourlittleplace.com/spect.html

BIG NO-NO’s

No Bounce or dryer sheets

No Febreeze

No Glade Plug-ins ---- http://www.mcs-america.org/april2007pg12...

No scented candles

No Fragranced Products on Body, Hair or Clothing

No Smoke

No Dander

No Sprays

And remember, it is NOT the smell it is the Chemicals that make up the smell. So, even if something is "Fragrance Free" these products often mask the smell with another chemical !

More and more offices and schools are creating “Fragrance Free Zones”… why do you think this is?

Feel free to contact me on this subject.

What causes itchy skin around the throat and jaw area? I'm a female and 50 years old.?
probably dry skin in that area.
Reply:It could be ezema, it affects mainly the neck, elbow fold, the back of the knee and wrists.

Why baby itchy skin?

rash? allergy? escema? See the doctor.

What causes itchy skin?

Most itchy skin (without any rashes, bumps or lesions) is caused simply by dryness. If you don't already, use a moisturizer daily. If you do and are still dry, find a different moisturizer. If the dryness continues to be a problem, see a doctor to rule out illness and a dermatologist for some prescription moisturizer.

What causes itchy skin?
Dirty Body....or eczema.
Reply:Your skin can be itchy for some different reasons. One if your allergic to something and you have a rash, causing it to itch. Bug bites can cause it to itch as well. You can also have dry skin, lotion does the trick to make it not so itchy.
Reply:lack of moisture in the environment and your diet.
Reply:A variety of reasons. Medication can cause itchy skin. Not bathing can cause itchy skin. Certain skin conditions can cause itchy skin. Not drinking enough water can cause itchy skin. Cold weather can cause itchy skin. The hot sun can cause itchy skin. To much wind can cause itchy skin. Using to much powder can cause itchy skin. Dry air can cause itchy skin. There are many things that can cause itchy skin. My recommendation is to eat right, drink water, bath regular, use a moisturizer in winter %26amp; add some sunblock in summer.

Bronchitis and Itchy Skin on Neck?

Has anyone experienced this? I am coming down with a cold that is turning into bronchitis. The strange thing is that my throat is tight and itch but so is the outside of my throat. (the outside of my body on my neck.) I have noticed this before when coming down with a simlar bug and I wondered if anyone had experience this?

Bronchitis and Itchy Skin on Neck?
While I personally have not experienced this it doesn't mean anything. However, it may indicate that you may have an allergic component to your irritation and therefore increased susceptibility to bronchitis because of it. I recommend that you talk to a specialist in either pulmonary medicine or allergy medicine. Either will know more than a general practitioner. I do sincerely hope that you are feeling better soon.
Reply:I know exactly what you mean. When I get bronchitis, especially when I haven't taken my inhaler and am having trouble breathing, my neck and chest itch on the outside. I don't think it's anything to worry about unless you get hives or some other type of skin irritation.

I have itchy skin after taking a shower. What could be the cause of this and how do I treat it. It is annoying

Its probably the soap you are using. Try something with more moisture in it, such as Dove or Olay. I had to switch from Softsoap to Olay because it was totally drying out my skin. Don't use really hot water either and always use a good lotion or moisturizer when you get out. That should help.

I have itchy skin after taking a shower. What could be the cause of this and how do I treat it. It is annoying
http://images.zwani.com/graphics/friends...
Reply:Try changing to a milder soap (like Dove), your skin might not like the soap you are using.
Reply:Dry skin, put on some lotion, that should help!
Reply:Generous moisturizer is needed, you have dry skin. Take shower only once, don't use hot water (colder or Luke warm is better), use moisturizing soaps such as Olay and many others. Give it a week, you will see the difference.
Reply:Moisturize a BUNCH.Either you have hard water, or your soap is drying you out.
Reply:maybe you have dirty water running in your pipes--try putting a filter at the water pipe--it will help somewhat
Reply:Try going from bar soap to, the liquid soaps and using a lufa. This will help in moisturising your skin and help with taking dead flaking itchy skin off..
Reply:Are u taking long showers? U might be using too much hot water for your skin which causes the skin to dry out and itch. You should adjust your temp. of water to more of a tepid temp and then use an oatmeal type shower gel, moisturize after shower and just pat dry your skin. Hope this helps

Extreamly dry itchy skin with heat bumps. What can i do?

Live in the mountians. In the summer my legs itch and i run cool water over them and the itching stops. in the cool months i get small heat bumps that itch. I have tryed everything the dr has suggested but nothing helps.

Extreamly dry itchy skin with heat bumps. What can i do?
I for one have dry itchy skin during the winter, but I bathe in aveno. They have the body wash, the soap, the powder solution, and lotion. They have it for different skin types. They also have itch relief cream, that works really well. I hope that helps.
Reply:If skin is itchy and the itching isn't caused by an allergy or irritation, then its a good bet that your skin is too dry - maybe from dry air during winter. My wife had this problem during the winter, and after we installed a humidifier in the house, the problem went away. If you have dry air in your house, maybe this will help. Bemis makes small evaporative humidifiers with 2 gallon bottles - these units plug into an outlet and they are ideal for placement in a bedroom. Honeywell makes humidifiers that are attached directly to a forced-air furnace.

I have itchy skin how can I cure it?

1. Warm bath with oatmeal-based bath additive, such as Aveeno Bath Treatments.

2. Cooled down cooked oatmeal slathered all over yourself in total body mask, let dry and then shower off.

3. No baby oil or any oil made of mineral oil.

4. Hydrocortisone cream (not lotion) will end the itchiness (pruritus) temporarily.

5. Rub warmed olive oil all over your skin after a hot shower before bed.

6. Eat more green vegetables.

7. Stay out of direct sunlight and wind.

8. Add humidity to your home. Even a simmering pot of water on the stove will add more than enough moisture to the air.

9. Bathe/Shower with soap only twice a week until condition improves. Use oatmeal instead.

10. Also, try adding a cup of whole milk to your bath water.

I have itchy skin how can I cure it?
Um.....Scratch?
Reply:itchy skin, you'd have to be more specific...try a antihistamine..like benadryl and a moisturizing lotion
Reply:Lotion?
Reply:lotion, lotion, lotion! put it on as soon as you get out of the shower.
Reply:You'll have to consider the cause. Is it an outside source?

( Poison Ivy ???) An internal source? (Something you ate you're allergic to complete with red bumps and splotches?)

Or is it an external condition - dryness (from removing too much natural body oil bathing too often? or digging in the dirt? or working with clay?)

Knowing the source of the itch is key to working on its cure.

Why does itchy skin feel relieved when splashed with hot water?

hot water opens the pores

Why does itchy skin feel relieved when splashed with hot water?
Hot water makes your body release it own natural histamine's. It works very well for relieving the itch of poisons. But if your skin is itching because of dry skin, the hot water will relieve it but will make your skin even dyer and I would suggest a very good lotion.
Reply:The pain from the hot water takes your mind off the itch?
Reply:Itching is a relatively low level "pain" that is typically propogated by some irritant - like posion oak or overly-dry skin. Splashing hot water on the area distracts the nervous system from the itching stimuli...for a bit. Unfortunately warm or hot water also activates histamines which are mediators for...you guessed it, itching. Also hot water tends to elimate naturally occurring oils on your skin...another common cause of itching.

My advice, that while warm or hot water might feel good for a minute, in the long run you are going to be MORE affected by the itching. There are plenty of anti-itch topical ointments and preparations that can be helpful - some with benzocaine (Solarcaine), some with mild steroids (hydrocortisone), some with antihistamines (Benadryl), some just are moisturizing (Aveeno), while others have menthols (Gold Bond) to stimulate the nervous system (like the warm water). Aloe Vera products are also touted as being effective for soothing skin itching.

Unless it is really annoying, I might just try to ignore it and let the problem naturally resolve. If it is annoying try one of the topical agents I mentioned above. If these are not effective after a couple of days you may want to proceed to your doctor for additonal evaluation and treatment of the underlying condition.

Good luck.

Severe itchy skin during pregnancy, any idea for the cure and cause of it?

i'm 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and it's hard to get some sleep at night when my body itch so bad. i can't help but scratch and it leaves ugly marks.

Severe itchy skin during pregnancy, any idea for the cure and cause of it?
Definitely ask the doctor about this. There is a liver condition during pregnancy that causes excessive itching. It's dangerous. Here's a brief description:

What is Cholestasis of Pregnancy

Cholestasis of pregnancy is a rare condition that results from a liver problem. Roughly 2 percent of pregnant women may develop this condition, which occurs when bile fails to flow normally in the small ducts of the liver. This results in bile salt accumulation in the body and can cause excessive itching. This itching is more intense than other forms of itching. Some women scratch so severely they end up with small tears in the skin.

This problem like many other pregnancy related skin conditions clears shortly after delivery. In some cases your doctor may recommend an early induction depending on the severity of your condition. Many women who develop cholestasis of pregnancy will develop the condition in subsequent pregnancies.
Reply:i had that to , u body is changing that's what it is.

But maybe u have some allergy on something, just go to u doctor.
Reply:stretch marks.. they itch.. i use Lubriderm and or Cocoa Butter. try not to scratch.. the Lubriderm helps with the itchies!!!

best of luck.. God bless!!
Reply:You need to ask your doctor. I know I've heard of this before, but it has a medical name. Ask your ob/gyn.
Reply:Use a good lotion. Don't shower every day. I have itchy skin, and my doctor told me not to shower daily. It has really helped. Ask your doctor since your preg. Good luck!
Reply:use aveeno bath wash or any of there products it worked 4 me u can get at walmart or any pharmacy chain and walmarts knock off oatmeal bath will work also
Reply:I feel for you because I went through it too :- ) I don't know if it is true or not, but I heard not to scratch because that is what causes stretch marks. Anyhow, the only thing I found that worked was cocoa butter or the vitamin E oil spray. Try it for a day and it should feel a lot better. Just be careful what you try as lotion or oils are absorbed into your skin, so make sure it is safe for pregnancy...but the cocoa butter is the only thing that stopped my itchy skin

Is itchy skin and pain in right ribcage a sign of liver problems?

i had my gallblader removed a year ago could that cause liver problems

Is itchy skin and pain in right ribcage a sign of liver problems?
Itchy skin can be seen in liver problems. The liver is located under the lower part of the right ribcage, so pain there could be a sign of liver problems. Having your gallbladder removed could be related, possibly because some scarring is blocking the flow of bile out of the liver, or maybe because of whatever was causing your gallbladder problems in the first place. Definitely see your doctor about your symptoms. I hope he or she is able to figure out what is going on.
Reply:Yes, it could..

I have really itchy skin and i have bumps on my hands feet legs, if i scratch my skin lightly it stays red????

What is it?????/ HELP?????/

I have really itchy skin and i have bumps on my hands feet legs, if i scratch my skin lightly it stays red????
Sounds like super dry skin. My skin gets likes that in the winter. Try using vaseline intensive care hand lotion. It kind of feels like vaseline, but not quite as greasy. if it is super itchy, a cream with cortisone might help. Also, your dr. can give you a rx med if those don't help.
Reply:You are heading towards a sluggish circulation of blood.Enhance the quantity and quality of blood and drink plenty of water to facilitate the purification process. Walk briskly or take short runs and intermittent brisk walks. These will activate the circulation and restore the cleaning up process. The itchiness will soon disappear.
Reply:How long have you had the itching? You might have Scabies or something like that. It's very contagious, doesn't mean you are dirty or anything, it just happens. Otherwise I agree with the other comments about very dry skin. Go to your doctor or a dermatologist.

I have a itchy skin whivh gets heated up on itching and turns red.The skin also becomes swelled up.?

I'm pregnant. This has been happening since then. Please tell me the cuse and its treatment.

I have a itchy skin whivh gets heated up on itching and turns red.The skin also becomes swelled up.?
Just know that cold water will tighten the skin and warm will loosen.

Happy Pregnancy!!
Reply:it sounds like you may have hives... consult a dr just to be on the safe side...
Reply:Yup it sounds like hives. Ask your doc about it. Applying some aloe will help it feel better. It relieves the itching and the heat.
Reply:That answers the Q becasue your pregnant your skin is streatching to accomodate your growing baby, hence the itchy feeling, if you have gaind weight then that is also a factor, because your skin streaches it causes it to feel tight, apply lotion designed for streatchmarks, or you can apply oil, baby oil is fine, it should feel much better after you apply the cream/oil, but if it continues to itch see your doctor who can prescribe a suitable lotion for you. good luck with your pregnancy.
Reply:happy pregnancy!! all 3 of my pregnancy's resulted in itching. My Dtr. said it has to do with your hormones surging. She gave me a RX for hydrocortisone cream apply generouly to all your spots and DON'T scratch if you can stand it. Cold compress helped some for me(just a cold washcloth on the swollen spots) Also when you see your Dtr ask about allergies and hives? best of luck, sandra

PS Don't take hot showers until your spots are better the heat of the water will make them worse!

Really itchy skin? seems to only happen everytime around this season.?

i'll just scratch like crazy until you see little red bumps on my legs, arms, thighs, stomach and lower back...

is there anything i can do besides scratch myself raw?

Really itchy skin? seems to only happen everytime around this season.?
You have dry skin.

Put lotion on . I recommend Cetaphil .. you can buy it at Walmart and it is Dermatologist recommended. It's a little expensive though. Make sure you get a lotion without Mineral Oil.
Reply:If you just put up a real christmas tree, I would try getting a faux one.
Reply:Use Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion. I have the same problem and this is the only lotion I've found that actually does exactly what it says it'll do. It continues to work for 24 hours. Love it, wouldn't get through the winter without it.
Reply:I love Oil or Olay in shower moisture lotion. Also baby oil gel moisturizes real well and stays on.
Reply:Changes in temperature can cause itching especially cold to warm. Wrap up well and climatise slowly when entering somewhere warm
Reply:it s probably becuz u have dry skin. keep urself moisturize 24/7. try switching to Dove for ur soap and lotion. that helped me a lot.
Reply:put lotion on after you shower.. Donot use too hot of water it dry your skin... put lotion on when every you can

and it because it winter time.. and the weather make it dry...
Reply:Chances are it's the cold weather making your skin drier and itchy. My suggestion a really good moisturizer. Something specifically for dry skin. Good luck!
Reply:Chances are the air is very dry from being winter and that is what is making you itch so much. Go invest in some lotion! and good luck!
Reply:Looks like your skin will be very dry in winter. So make sure you put on some lotion especially after shower or bath or maybe before bed.
Reply:its just dry skin try aveeno.
Reply:Ahh winter time is here. The cooler air, heavier clothing and use of heaters cause the skin to dry and becomes itchy.

Several things you can do. Use fabric softener, drink more water, use an air humidifier and use Aveeno Moisturizing Lotion after a shower. Its the best lotion, something about the oatmeal makes your skin feel yummy and stays soft a long time. Get the kind with the green label.

And don't scratch!
Reply:Winter is horrible for skin with the cold weather and then the heat inside drying out the skin. Drink lots of water and find a really good body lotion.

Mary Kay has TimeWise Visibly Fit Body Lotion that my friend swears is the only thing that helps her with the dry itchy skin in the winter.
Reply:Since it's winter and the air is pretty dry, it is important to moisturize with a thick lotion.
Reply:Make sure with a health professional's help that you aren't allergic to anything. If you're suffering from eczema, see a homeopath for a long-term cure.

But if you're just suffering from really, really dry skin, then take more fish or Omega oils. Avoid perfumed bath or shower soaps. When you step out of a bath or shower, while your skin is still wet, put a few drops of baby oil in your hand, rub your palms together and then run your hands all over body. After that, towel off the excess water. Use hydrating body lotions for very dry skin afterwards, or just a thin layer of plain petroleum jelly. At night, apply some almond oil all over before bedtime.

A light sheen of plain Crisco is also good for dry skin.
Reply:Winter time is notorious for zapping the moisture out of your skin. Try some cocoa butter or body cream - Bath and Body Works has some great smelling body butters.
Reply:Dry Skin! Could be caused by the dry air inside your home/work or school and or the soap you use.

check out a few of these natural products at http://www.swissjustusa.com they have body washes and lotions as well as a product called lamelloderm that is great for anyone with severe skin issues. I think that the right product will solve your problem!
Reply:Aveeno moitruizing lotion with the oatmeal in the beige and blue bottle!! It really relieves itchy dry skin!
Reply:It's probably because you have dry skin. I have that problem too, and I find that moisturizing the skin with lotion especially formulated for dry skin helps a whole lot.
Reply:moisturize daily. that happens to me too, but my cousin gave me some really cool body lotion from bath and body works. it's really thick but it helps a lot.

good luck!!!

p.s: drink lot's of water.

tip from my doctor
Reply:Try lotion that has lots of moisturizer in it. During the winter time, skin can get really dry. Also, it may help to drink lots of water.
Reply:i usually get really dry skin around this time of year too. I suggest using cocoa butter or shea butter, not lotions. But butter helps to kind of seal moisture in. It's kind of thick but you can get used to it, especially since it will stop the itching.
Reply:Shower with a very mild soap like L'Occitane Milk Soap. There are no harsh detergents in it.

Humidify your house.

Shower with warm water, pat dry but leave a little moisture on your skin.

Then apply hypoallergenic Alba Botanica very emollient lotion mixed with a little of their organic Kukui Nut oil (as long as you are not allergic to nuts). You may have to shop online to find it.

This regime works for me and I live in the cold north! I have been using their products for years bc I have very sensitive skin.
Reply:there are special cortizone creams you can use, and pills like Zirtec that help alleviate seasonal itching caused by allergies. however, extreme itching like in your case is also a major symptom of Hodgkin's Lymphoma (u mite want to check this out). if u go to wikipedia and just type in itching u'll see all the causes. find out wats bothering u. it can be ur detergent or even the shampoos and soaps u use, or even something more serious.g luck
Reply:u probally got eczema

there is medicine u can get for it
Reply:Just to let you know...you've got a bad case of dry skin. Get a really good mosturizer for your face, baby oil for you during your bath, a good heavy lotion for healing (something with oatmeal in it). That should help! Dry skin gets worse in the winter too.
Reply:Use any germicidal soap, and take a bath everytime you feel itchy...

Itchy skin rashes...?

I don't remember breaking out this bad with my daughter till I was around 7 months I'm around 16 weeks almost 17 this time.. I've broke out on my tummy (when it first started I thought it was my strech marks starting back up) and my upper thighs. No where else, and no internal itching as it isn't anywhere like that either before an STD gets mentioned.

I've no other symptoms, no fever, I throw up but its morning sickness b/c it usually well doesn't happen in the morning its mostly at night when I lay down I puke then am fine. But other than the itching which is driving me mad. and the fact it looks like ugh! Things are fine.

I'm just wondering I have an appoint next week with my doctor would it be okay (if I can handle the itching) to just wait and go then or do I need to call the doctor.

I looked it up on line and it mostly looks like PUPS to me but then again I'm not a dr.

Itchy skin rashes...?
haha

go to a doctor im a doctor.

im the best!
Reply:when that happened to me it was due to psoriasis
Reply:i have really bad itching on my thighs just at night and occasionally during the day and it itches so bad that i almost break the skin and i get little bumps my husband says it looks like irratation but i think its more than that but i cant figure it out! let me know what your doctor says?

Itchy skin....but no rash?

My right arm has been itching since I got up this morning, but it's only in certain places. There is no rash or redness, though! So what could it be? It's only in certain places, and it hasn't spread. It's on my upper arm, on the inside of my wrist, my thumb, and the back of my shoulder. It sometimes feels like it's burning (like a rash would), and sometimes it feels like tiny bugs (a tingling feeling). I've put Aveeno lotion on it and it doesn't help.

Itchy skin....but no rash?
could be winter skin....the heat could be causing it..try using a lotion like aquaphor its supposed to help with this...if it does turn red ..use clearadryl its like calamine lotion only clear...
Reply:Well I have winter dry skin that sounds like wht you are describing. I use Olay in shower body lotion. Try it and see if it helps.
Reply:you may have winters itch try a lotion with aloe or oatmeal if it persist use some hydrocortizone that should do it!
Reply:sounds like a pinched nerve, or you slept on your arm for a long tine
Reply:This latest Outbreak of Cold Weather- is causing MANY of us to come down with random outbreaks of Dry Skin... Try to drink MORE Water (to hydrate yourself from the Inside- Out), put on a moisturizing lotion after you bathe, and try to keep your surroundings as COOL as you can stand it (the More you warm dry air- the drier your skin will become...).
Reply:it is most likely jsut dry skin. My daughter had really itchy skin with no rash or anything so I just got some baby wash with shea and cocoa butter, since she has been using that she has had no problems at all.

Itchy skin, noticed new strech marks & losing weight? Anyone else experience this?

I can't answer the question about the itchy skins. But the stretch marks are from losing weight to fast. Try coco butter to help demise the stretch marks.

Itchy skin, noticed new strech marks %26amp; losing weight? Anyone else experience this?
Unexplained weight loss and general itchiness can be signs of medical illnesses (such as Hodgkin lymphoma, for instance). You should see your primary care physician.
Reply:You mentioned 3 issues 1) itchy skin... Is your skin red and rashy? You could have a heat rash. You could try an over the counter hydrocortisone cream for the itch. Is your skin dry and scaly? Apply lotion to hydrate your skin. Do you have a bug bite? calamine lotion may help. 2) You are losing weight. Are you trying to lose weight? If you are not trying to lose and have lost a noticeable amount then you need to see a doctor to determine the cause. If you are trying to lose weight, be sensible. Eat 3 balanced calorie counted meals, exercise and drink at least 8 glasses of water. If you skip meals your body thinks you are in starvation mode and will slow down your body metabolism, meaning you'll burn up less calories. 3) When you lose weight you may get stretch marks on your thighs, breast, belly, arms and buttocks. You can try the over the counter creams to help hide them but they probably won't go away. Some people have good elasticity and bounce back to normal looking skin. Unfortunately, I'm one that has stretch marks too.
Reply:U r loosing too fast.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.

Itchy skin - Nothing Helps?

I have an itch. It starts from the small of the back where the buttocks begins. That exact spot nothing helps, except cortizone lotion. Then the Itch works its way up my entire back.

I tried Alegra, Claritin, Gold Bond Powder, lotion from the dermatoligst, and the best over the counter products. Nothing really helps form more than a few hours. Please help I am not able to sleep.

Itchy skin - Nothing Helps?
You're having an allergic reaction to something ........ new clothing, perfume, soap, laundry powder ????? Any of these could be the culprit.

In the mean time get rid of the itch ??? You bet!! Just put 1/2 cup vinegar into a warm bath of water. Lay in it and soak for about 10 - 15 minutes. This will return your skins ph to its correct level of about 7.

The chemicals and toxins we are exposed to in today's environment/ products sometimes strip the acid mantle on our skin, by soaking in a diluted vinegar bath this will return the ph level of your skin to normal. For future reference, change your bath soaps, shampoos, conditioners, talc powders, perfumes, lotions, aftershaves etc.etc., anything that comes into contact with your skin, to chemical and toxin free products. May cost a little more to start with, but hey, what price comfort, health and sanity ????

Reply:Pls see a dermatologist about this. If your insurance requires it start with your primary care dr. In the mean time try and see if maybe applying an ice pack might numben the area some might be of help.
Reply:what about calamine lotion or take a salt bath before bed
Reply:Seek out a Nuerologist.

I have this same problem only it travels down my legs instead of up. It sounds like a nerve problem. Mine drove me insane until I went to the Nuerologist.

He prescribed me a drug that has taken away the insane itching as well as the pain I was experiencing....as long as no one touches my lower back right above the buttocks, then I start in with itching again.

Maybe speak with your dermatologist and ask first if this could possibly be a nerve issue...but it sounds a lot like what I went through.

~hugs and good luck~

Itchy skin & eyelid?

I have a strange burning rash on my things. Sometimes it itches, but most of the time it doesn't. It just burns. And it's not like I am wearing tight pants or clothing.

Here's the thing...it stings only when the weather starts to get cold. It doesn't happen when the weather is warm/hot. The colder it gets, the more it burns and turns red/scaly.

I also have a strange itching on my eyelid. The same spot. All the time. Tried rinsing my eye with eyewash, but that is a temporary fix. I wear contact lenses %26amp; glasses interchangeably (not at the same time, of course).

Can anyone provide some advice? I wonder if I have eczema and if the contact lens soluttion could be making my eye itch--but it only happens with 1 eye.

Thanks.

I think you might have mites. Try looking up info on that.

Itchy skin, no sign of anything, is it allergies?

Some basic causes of itchy skin include rashes, allergies, hives, blisters, dry skin, shingles, parasites, insect bites, lice, allergies, and the list goes on and on. So, if you have itchy skin that is not helped by a good moisturizing cream then you should visit your general practitioner or else a dermatologist to find out what is really causing your itchy skin so you can get some relief as quick as possible.

Since there are so many causes of itchy skin the amount of treatments available are also rather wide. These include over the counter lotions, prescription and medicated lotions and creams, steroidal creams, antibiotics, and a wide range of other products. The cause of your itchy skin will determine the type of treatment best for you.

If your itchy skin is caused by dry skin due to cold weather or any other similar reason, then a really good moisturizing lotion should be able to offer you the relief you are looking for. Eczema sufferers frequently need to apply special lotions to their bodies in order to deal with the itchy skin, but there is really no cure for this condition so you will often times need to be creative and find the treatment that works best for you.

If a fungus is the cause of your itchy skin then you will need to use an anti-fungal cream like clotrimazole or a similar product to kill the fungus and get rid of the itch. This type of cream might also be used if parasites are causing your skin itch. Itchy skin caused by a virus, like a staph or strep infection, might require an antibiotic to tackle the infection and a medicated cream like Bactroban to handle the outward itch. Remember as well, if you have recently started a prescription drug and have itchy skin within a two to four week time frame you might be experiencing an allergic reaction and the best way to treat this is to simply stop taking the drug. Then, your body can heal on its own and you can apply anti-itch creams until the allergy has subsided.

Obviously, there are many causes for itchy skin and a multitude of treatment options. However, only your doctor can truly determine the cause or causes of your itchy skin and prescribe a treatment that will really be beneficial for you. If you try and treat your itchy skin yourself you might overlook the main cause, which could be an allergy or an illness that needs proper care by a physician and you might become even sicker or have itchier skin. As a result, if you have itchy skin that is not relieved with a good moisturizing lotion then make an appointment with a general practitioner or dermatologist to get to the bottom of your itchy skin. There is really no reason to wait for relief when you can see your doctor and find out what is causing your itchy skin and begin a treatment to provide you the much needed relief you deserve.

Itchy skin, no sign of anything, is it allergies?
the most obvious thing could just be dry skin
Reply:I have the same problem. Are you sure it's not nerves? Sometimes when people are stressed out they scratch their skin just as others twiddle their thumbs. It could also be allergies though. Consider this--a lot of women are allergic to a component in colognes and perfumes. If you're using things that are loaded with fragrance or are around people that use these items you could develop itch skin because of that. You may also want to consider using a laundry detergent and fabric softener made for people with sensitive skin. I hope this helps.
Reply:It could be a lot of different things... If there isn't any redness or bumps are anything else visible, I would try some kind of moisturizer on the area to see if that helps. If not, see your doctor. I have neurodermatitis, which causes me to itch and it is nerve related.
Reply:Spring is a time of year when people realize that they may have allergies. If your skin itches, your eyes itch, your throat itches, or you may even develop hives on your skin, it is at this point that you must admit that you have allergies. You could be allergic to rag weed, pollen, dust, hay, foods, and the only way you can be positive is to see a doctor and have test done. But if you have the patience you can slowly start to control your diet staying away from foods that are known to have a high allergic rate. Try a certain food and if you notice the itch to increase, then you know that you are allergic to it. If you sit in the grass, and start to itch, then you will know that you are allergic to that, that is one of the things that I am allergic to. By slowly discovering the things that you are allergic and staying away from them , you can make your life more comfortable, but in the mean time you can take benedroyl to combat the itch symptoms, or if you go to the doctor and he confirms that you do have allergies, then he may give you a certain allergy medication. But I would not suggest taking them with out the doctors advice.
Reply:Hi, Lois. Sounds more like either nerves and/or extremely dry skin. I live in a very humid area. So I'm usually fine. But when the humidity is low my skin itches like crazy. So I started using hypoallergenic everything because dry skin is treated pretty much the same way. Use alot of lotion when you first come out of the shower while your skin is still damp %26amp; pores are open. It will drink it up in no time. Plus I drink lots more water to keep hydrated. I also use a loofah on dry spots like the legs when I'm in the shower to scrape off the dead skin cells. You could be getting eczema or psoraiasis. But more than likely your skin justs needs to be cleansed %26amp; hydrated.
Reply:More likely than not, it's dry skin. The lack of humidity during the winter months often coupled with hotter showers can result in dry skin. Try Cetaphil lotion.

Strange small bug on my skin leaving itchy spots, what can I do.?

These are small blood-sucking bugs that are about the size of a grain of pepper which get on my skin when I take my dog out in the woods during the summer months of July, Augist, and September. They seem to prefer to bite on the top and sides of my feet and the area of my legs under my pants and leave itchy spots the next day. They seem to exhibit tick like characteristics as they prefer sheltered areas to bite. What are these tiny bugs and what can I do to heal the itches?

the best advice i have for you is to use bug spray or consult your doctor..maybe you are ellurgic to something....you never know.

Reply:chiggers! I hate them too nothing will stop the itch, but insect repellent that contains deet will help keep them from digging in %26amp; biting.
Reply:Sounds like seed ticks. Do they look like this?

http://au.merial.com/producers/beef/dise...

Actually, it sounds like you're describing two different bugs. Chiggers do like to bite in sheltered areas like the waistband, underwear, top of the socks, etc., but chiggers aren't really visible to the naked eye. The tiny black bugs you describe are not chiggers. So it sound like you're getting bitten by two different insects. The itching will go away on it's own. Some people get a little relief with hydrocorisone creams.
Reply:they sound like fleas or chiggers. what you can do is get some 1% hydrocortisone cream. this will help with the itching. be careful not to scratch a lot b/c they can ge tinfected easily.
Reply:Well, they sound like lyme ticks but they're not really itchy. People who get Lyme disease usually get flu-like symptoms and then often a "bull's eye" rash within a couple weeks. You would really need quick treatment for this or could face life-long problems.

On the other hand, the symptoms sound more like fleas but I don't think they are in the woods. I thought they just jumped animal to animal.

What part of the country do you live in? Also, do they just leave you or do you have to pull them off?
Reply:We call them "chiggers". . go to a pharmacists, and ask for sulfur. They sell it behind the counter. It's a yellow powder, and powder yourself exspecially around the parts that your clothing is tighter to your skin, (elastic, between legs, under armpits, behind knees, ankles, where socks and shoes fit snug, pants where they button..get the idea?) "chiggers" wont bother you. IF you have already got bitten, then take clear fingernail polish and keep painting over the itchy spots until they go away, that helps relieve it.
Reply:Are they red in color? About the size of a grain of salt or smaller? Sounds like chiggers to me. They do itch so bad. Use a bug spray before going out, you can use baking soda in bath water and soak in it. A good cortisone cream or any anti-itch creme will help but won't make it completely go away. Find somewhere else to walk the dog and then you won't get them.

Is it normal to have my skin be itchy and dry while pregnant?

I am 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby. :)

For several weeks I have had major itching all over my stomach, lower back, and ankles. There is no rash and its so bad that when I wake up I am immediately itching my ankles.

Its almost feels like an allergic reaction, but I am not taking anything new and I never had this happen before I got pregnant.

Also, my face is really dry everyday like never before. My baby is doing great and the OB kind of blew off my skin problems.

Yep it sure is. Buy yourself a big bottle of Palmer's Cocoa Butter with vitamin E
Reply:yeah i think so... get some cocoa butter it helps me
Reply:YES, JUST USE LOTION EVERYDAY AFTER YOUR SHOWER AND MOISTURIZER ON YOUR FACE. IT'S YOUR HORMONES ACTING UP.
Reply:Yes, I can't stop the icthing either.....and too it is add with the winter months
Reply:Yes everyone is different though some women may have really oily skin while pregnant just make sure you are drinking enough water and use cocoa butter for your dry skin, it will also help with stretch marks.
Reply:yes i think so
Reply:I am not pregnent and refuse to have anybody's damn baby. I wangt some monehy and i will work for it,. hoochie coochie baby. lay some bread on my bump and you'll get a hump. yeh, back on the streets tonite. kicked out by the t-rd. he is a big one but they slice up reall good.
Reply:Yep. I'm still all itchy and kinda broke out into a rash and I'm 25 weeks. But when I went to the Dr. about it they did a blood test to check something with my Liver. The Dr. told me that sometimes your liver doesn't absorb a chemical in your body that its suppose to while your pregnant and it will cause your skin to break out and itch and become really dry. But its safe to take Benadryl and it really helps with the itching. Or there is always the Benadryl cream if you aren't comfortable with taking medication.
Reply:Yes it is normal. I use cetephil, because it is very mild. My OB told me that if I itch too much, especially in my stomach regions, it may increase stretch marks. Hope this helps!
Reply:It's extrememly normal

alot of pregnant women itch

you can take an antihistamine (ask the chemist just incase to make sure the one you want is safe for baby)

you can also get creams which will not harm your baby because they only go as deep as the skin and only a tiny amount gets into your blood stream

if you have an extreme case you may require a pill I think that has steriods in it

mostly just try and keep moisturised

take cool showers/baths for a short amount of time

dont use soap (dries out the skin)

there are a number of body and hand wash products out there that don't have soap in them (usually from the chemist, but you may find a couple at the grocery store)
Reply:Its normal - i remember having the same issues as you in early pregnancy - always scratching! Started to worry i had fleas or something! lol.

Its apparently just your skin staring to stretch which causes the itchiness. I have found cocoa butter to be of great relief - i lather that on every morning and on my stomach at night and i don't itch half as much! It really helps soothe the skin!

Congrats and best of luck

Oh - i'm 27wks - while the itchiness was intense in the first trimester and part of the second trimester now that i apply lotion religiously each day, its really not to often that i'll be itchy anymore.
Reply:yes indeed..and it doesnt get better sorry to say...i use palmers cocoa butter..this helps so much...good luck and congrats..

Why does our skin get itchy?

what is it in our skin that makes us irritated and itchy?

Why does our skin get itchy?
dryness. lack of oil
Reply:Dry skin, lack of natural skin oils. Olive Oil is good for that, just give it plenty of time to absorb into the skin.

Why is my skin so itchy?

It's all over my body, it's constant. There's no redness, soreness or oedema but my skin is itchy, mainly the arms and the legs but also my shoulder blades; even whilst writing this, I've had to stop to scratch seven or eight times.

Why is my skin so itchy?
The medical word for itchiness is "pruritus". Persistent itchiness should be assessed by a physician because some serious medical conditions can have pruritus as a symptom. In the meantime, increase the humidity in your home (even a simmering pot of water on the stove), try over-the-counter hydro-cortisone creams (not petroleum based), some oatmeal based bath soaks, and if going nuts from it, some Benadryl (follow directions on the bottle . . .usually 50 mg dose) will help. See your physician soon. RN
Reply:you are probably taking too many hot showers.

I have the same problem from that, taking too many showers dries your skin up, making it itchy

Also maybe your soap as well. I think some people have itchy skin due to chemicals in soap. Try to find an organic soap.
Reply:go to a doctor
Reply:it`s probably the soap you use.

try using a diffrent brand.

this happened to me once,%26amp;%26amp; i realized that

the soap i was using (dove) made me really itchy,

%26amp;%26amp; i was like allergic to it or something,so i don`t use that

brand anymore. :]
Reply:Its DRY DRY DRY! Use lots of cream 3 times a day.
Reply:I'd go see a doctor to be honest.

My mum had an itchy skin condition. She ended up in hospital for a week to be treated for it with special creams. I had to visit her frequently.. and the ward had quite a few other women with similar conditions. It was a bit strange talking to these women patients (friendly) who were constantly scratching themselves. They'd torn their skin in many places though scratching. They said it was a living hell they'd endured for years.

I hope your condition is nothing as extreme... but I would advise seeing your doctor... if nothing else.. doctor may know how to stop it getting worse through early diagnosis. Good luck.
Reply:This sounds very much like an allergic reaction of some sort... How long has it been happening? Try taking an antihistamine like Benadryl.

Contact dermatitis from soap or laundry detergent is a definite possibility. You should think if there were any possible triggers: Did you change soaps, eat something you've never eaten before, etc?
Reply:http://www.benbest.com/health/essfat.htm...
Reply:definitely try using dye/fragrance-free detergents. white dove. i've been using cetophil instead of regular lotion. it's a bit expensive, but the stuff is amazing. lay off on really hot showers. if a rash does show up, check with your doctor.
Reply:How long does it happened to you?
Reply:have you changed the washing powder or soap or somthing like that?

or have you eaten something out of the ordenary?

go to the docter %26amp; have some test done
Reply:go see your doctor!!
Reply:Try using Body Butter from the body shop, it's more greasier than other creams and might help with the itching (:
Reply:You may want to try my recipe for body lotion. Take 8oz. of vitamin E cream, 8oz. of petroleum, and 8 oz. of pink baby lotion. It has to be the pink lotion that was what I was told. You can buy the off brand it works just as well. I use this at night, be sure to wear socks if you put it on your feet.

If you don't get any relief you should go to your dr.
