I have itchy dry skin,?

what is causing it and what can be done for it. Mostly on my arms and back.

I have itchy dry skin,?
LOTION!!!!!
Reply:Weather and indoor heating can dry your skin out you should use a good lotion right after you shower while your skin is still moist.
Reply:Try a bath with white vinagar. then drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day. I would call the doc and see if you can get in. I think that you might bennifit with a good CREAM not a lotion. Hope it helps.
Reply:its called eczema use pure vitamin e oil and drink lots of water
Reply:Winter weather and a vata dosha (Ayurveda) causes it.

Lotion won't really help. You need to massage a mixture of sesame seed oil and almond oil all over your body before showering. It will make all the difference! You can also take a bath in oatmeal water-that will also reduce the dry itchy skin.
Reply:That often happens to me too. During the winter you get dry skin because of the extreme weather and dry heat inside. I suggest lowering the heat in your house and shower, using a humidifier, and showering with an aloe or oatmeal based, moisturizing bodywash. Follow with a heavy cream lotion, like Nivea while skin is still damp, Also, lube yourself up before bed.
Reply:Get some aveeno intensive care for dry and itcy skin it helps alot and relieves on contact and if you like that menthol cool feeling they have that kind too.Its about $7-9 dollars they have it at rite aid walgreens walmart target ect..
Reply:see a skin specialist.

it could be an allergy reaction to something

Maybe the weather
Reply:lets see...it could be caused by a number of things: the weather, too much dry heat, not enough fresh air, eczema(you should see a doctor if its really bad, because there are special creams you need if its ecsema)....so you should try an exfoliater for your body, and use it in the shower, than put lotion on after you get out, the kind of lotion that doesn't have fragrance(i recomend origins)...exercise helps your skin overall, especially outside, get fresh air. drink 6-8 glasses of water a day, and if your skin is extremely itchy and dry, and this doesn't work, try some lotion with aloe vera in it, and take some fish oil vitamins. you really should exfoliate though, it feels good, and gets rid of all that ichy dry skin:) and lotion will quench the new skin underneath so it doesn't dry out.
Reply:I have similar - my brother and I have intense itching on our shins of our legs - scratching feels incredibly itchy, but once you stop, it burns like crazy. He scratches to a point of drawing blood, but I stop before then. I believe it is a vitamin B deficiency. It runs in our family (vitamin problem), so you may entertain trying vitamin B or some combination vitamin/proprietary blend at a health food store that can assist you with your dilemma. I'm going to check into it, myself. I'm going crazzzeeee!

Reply:Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and use a face pack of ripe bananas and honey. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for dry skin at the link below.
Reply:Dry skin is a big thing. One of the problem is because we wash in chlorinated water everyday. Chlorine is a bleaching agent and it strips away the natural skin oil. All the cream and lotion we put on is not the same and it is a after application. I do have dry skin myself and I use shower filter. It really help is you case is same as mine. Use shower filter and also apply the cream to see it that works. I myself uses shower filter and finds it to work for me, but still I use cream.
