How do I soothe this winter itchy dry skin?

Every winter it's the same... my skin gets so dry it looks like it's cracking! I've tried every lotion out there (so it seems). Any suggested remedies?

How do I soothe this winter itchy dry skin?
find a good moisturizer and use it frequently.

i suggest a cream for you.

jergens and nivea make good resonably priced moisturisers.

try to get one without alpha hydroxy acids. they may irritate your exrta dry skin.

a very good way to trap moisture on the skin:

after your bath or shower pat yourself dry.

while still damp apply the moisturizer.

i like nivea the best.

if you are excessively dry, you cab rub on vaseline and cover your feet in socks and wear cotton clothes over the vaseline while you sleep.

another remedy is to use rice bran oil, olive oil, or sesame oil to trap moisture on your skin instead of the vaseline.

a day cream (i suggest a cream since you say lotions do not help) should be applied at least four times during the day.

if you can't stand to be slimey (and the vaseline might make you fel that way) prepare a nice warm tub of water.

soak some oatmeal in water to soften it up then add it to the bath.

you can also add a 1/2 c of mineral oil (baby oil) to the bath to leave a water loss barier when you step out of the tub.

soak for 20 minutes.

gently buff your skin with a towel then apply a thin film of a light lotion but make sure that shea butter is one of the ingredients.

Aveeno makes an excellent oatmeal lotion for the skin.

try using super fatted soaps or glycerin soaps or oatmeal soaps. they make you itch less.

cleansing cream is GREAT. (jergens is my favorite, i like the vanilla-almond fragrance) you can slather it on all over your face and body at night the shower it off in the morning. it leaves you soft and moisturised and gets out zits and black heads and dirt on your face.

be prepared to change the bed often %26lt;hee hee%26gt;.

what works for one person does not always work for another.

but it is known that oatmeal perparations soothe itchy skin. and keeping it moisturised keeps it healthier, it will not crack, and also less itchy.

good luck
Reply:Skin car.
Reply:um... the best thing to is to wet your skin (like when u take a bath) and then u appy winter mouserisers (cocoa and shea butter work best). For your hands, before bed, add lotion and wear gloves to sleep. (U can do the same for your feet, just use wool socks).
Reply:shea butter baby
Reply:If you use moisturing (did i spell that rite?)lotion every nite.
Reply:oitment.....or take long long baths....and it feels good with long baths anyway!
Reply:u use lotion
Reply:You do not have a humidifer I assume. It would probably help. My neighbor uses Calgon bath oil beads and soaks in it. I have not had the prob. since getting a humidifer. Usual summer house humidity is 60-80%, winter house humidity is as low as 10%.
Reply:Cocoa butter body wash with cocoa butter lotion.
Reply:use a lofa to remove the top dry skin first. Shower is best so you don't leave a ring. Then wash with a moisturizing soap such as dove. After you bath, use ery sparingly a bit of lotion. Over doing the lotion can cause your pores to seal up and dry out again. Sleep on satan sheets in the nude. Cotton will suck the moisture from your body
