Why is it that when you pour boiling hot water on your itchy skin, your skin feels relief?

For the same reason putting ice on a cut, bruise feels good. Your bodies nerve pathways prioritize changes in temperature changes over any other nerve impulses. It does this to ensure that your core body temperature remains regulated preventing major damage to your internal organs. If you continued to pour boiling water over your arm your body would eventually recognize that the core is not at risk and the pain of the water would register at that point.

Why is it that when you pour boiling hot water on your itchy skin, your skin feels relief?
Ouch I have never poured boiling hot water on my hand and had it feel good?
Reply:Boiling water will burn your skin off. Warm water probably is fine but it will remove more skin oils thatn cool water and that will increase the dry skin problem. Use a good moisturizer, not boiling water.
Reply:I have never pour boiling water on my skin. I think you need to talk to your family, friend and your doctor about this subject. Take care of yourself!!
Reply:takes off top layer of the skin so it reliefs pain from the itching that is probably caused by some infection on ur skin
