What is the best remedy for constant itchy skin?

depends what causes it hun' best bet is to go to your gp first and see what it is. it could be an infection, or reaction to something and you don't want to go whacking the wrong thing on it. failing that a harmless substance what ever it is is toothpaste. the menthol wil cool the skin and stop the itch.....or again...good one is calamine lotion which you can get from the chemist pretty cheap. go to the docs though and get it sorted.

urine...your own..
Reply:All depends on what it is.. i've got eczema and i've had countless creams from the docs including steroid ones but the one i think works best is e45 anti itch. And much cheaper too!!
Reply:Go to see GP to find out why your itching so much but put camolie lotion on until then to soothe it.
Reply:First check with your doc, make sure it not an allergy or fungus. If there are not welts, or bumps and the skin is not broken I would use Aveeno Anti-Itch it works well.
Reply:Again, like the other replies, it depends on the cause. If your skin is itchy without any obvious rahs or irritation, you may need to have a blood test to check your bilirubin levels. High levels of bilirubin may indicate a blockage or problem with your gall bladder or liver, and will cause your skin to be very itchy.

If you can see a rash, then you still need to see a doc...it could have any cause. In the meantime, wash with unperfumed products, preferably NOT soap, pat your skin gently dry, and apply an unscented moisturiser... Aveeno products are good; or Emulave...Oilatum is great for a bath - it coats your skin with a soothing layer; but seriously, you need to check this out with a doctor, because it will drive you insane!
Reply:Depends on what the cause is. Can be anything from something serious like liver and kidney problems to something more easily attended to like changing your soaps and detergent and deoderant.
Reply:DIPROBASE
Reply:my kids have eczema and are constantly itchy and scratching, what seems to work is a warm bath everyday followed by moisturizing with eucerin lotion within 3 minutes of getting out of the water. If you are still itchy try putting hydrocortizone cream, but only for a few days because it is a steroid and breaks down your skin if used too often. Another remedy I have been told to use is benadryl, something with an anti-histamine in it. That should help from the inside. maybe you should look into why you are constantly itchy, have you switched lotion or soap, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent or fabric softener?? If so, try using something milder to stop your body reacting to whatever is causing the itch. Good luck.
Reply:tap don't scratch. Also good moisturiser.
