What makes our skin itchy?

Reply:Like snakes, we are constantly shedding skin. Where did you think some of that dust comes from? Anyway, when the skin begins to loosen, you feel a tingling sensation, and you are automatically forced to scratch it. And so it is the proverbial itch! Note: I'm talking about the epidermis (first layer) of skin.





Other times, an outside agent may cause this sensation. Such things as bug bites and chicken pox cause itching because they are irritating the skin, and the only messages our brains can get to us to soothe this irritation is by scratching to get rid of the itch.
