Why is my skin SO itchy (I put lotion on my whole body just after I bathed at 10 am)?

I went to the doctor today for a check up. On the whole ride there,my skin was VERY itchy! It is still itchy! Its itchy on the bottom of my foot,my leg,my toes,my elbow,my hand,my palm, and my belly. Why is this happening? I just put on dry skin lotion. I've never ever had the chicken pox. It just started itching this morning. Its so itchy,I can't even walk! I don't put on lotion often on my body. Please help me!

Why is my skin SO itchy (I put lotion on my whole body just after I bathed at 10 am)?
First of all, if you don't use lotion very often you could be allergic to the stuff you slathered all over. Take a lukewarm shower, use soap and washcloth to get that crap off right away.

Take a Benadryl or a Claritin asap. Use Eucerin calming cream, go buy some. Do not apply topical anithistamines, not do use hydrocortisone cream, either.

I'd take the Benadryl or Claritin and shower right now. You're making me itch just thinking about it!
Reply:sounds like you are probably allergic to something in the lotion you used. I would take another shower and wash it all off, then get some benadryl and take it to help with the itch.
Reply:Maybe it's the perfume or alcohol in the lotion that is drying out your poers.
Reply:You could be allergic. Do take a Clarityne and wash with a mild soap. Avoid chocolates and fatty foods for a while.

If the problem persists for a long time, go to the doctor and have general tests. Don't panic, it is probably a temporary problem, but in rare occasions if it persists it could indicate some problem that has nothing to do with the skin itself but comes from another condition.
Reply:Girl, I ain't tryin' to be funny, but you might have scabies! Check your itchy spots for little burrow tracks from the bug. Does it itch mainly at night? Just a suggestion you might wanna look out for.
Reply:some lotions have perfume in it so your may be reacting to the ingredients ..not sure where you live but if its cold there your skin gets drier in the winter time so when you add the creams %26amp; lotions then itchness begins try using over the counter creams with no perfumes in them . if your not sure ask at the drug store they can help you

also shower with warm water not too hot this can cause you skin to act up also did you tell you DR this as you were there?
Reply:Well, If you have been camping lately, or walking around in bushes/trees (woods) then you might have touched poisen ivy! even if you avoided "all the posien ivy" there are many forms of it. you might have had an alergic reactions to something in your shower! the first time i used some body wash, i thought i did not have ANY alergies, but i was alergic to it! so what i could recomend is if your not alergic to any ingredients in oatmeal, try taking an oatmeal bath! hope your itching goes away!
Reply:Itching can be caused by a number of things

when did it start? Do you have a rash of any kind? need more information to offer any help dear please elaborate

you might simply be allergic to that lotion or get real serious and start talking skin cancer .. there are millions of reasons we itch could you give more information please? thanks
Reply:why didn't you mention this to the doctor when you were there.

anyway i suggest you get some benadryl that is an antihistamine and will be found in the cough cold allergy part of the pharmacy . you can ask the pharmacist for a cheaper brand of the same drug it is often here at least a couple dollars cheaper.

the other thing you should do if you live in the north is get some oatmeal for treatment of dry skin winter itch its called they sell that at the drug store too .

i suggest you take the pills first wait one hour take another

if that does not fix you up then try the bath .

if after all that your still going nuts with the itch then go back and see the doctor.

if at any point your mouth tongue face or neck swell up get to the hosp right away have someone else drive. if you start to have breathing difficulty go to the hosp right away .
Reply:Hi, This is for dry hair and skin, dandruff, psoriasis, itchy scalp, really thick, curly African hair, etc

Try this remedy: mix together, in this order:

1 part lecithin (from the health food store, in the baking section)

1/4 to 1 part shea butter,

2 or 3 parts castor oil

3 or 4 parts grape seed oil

if you have really bad itching or irritation add 5 - 20 drops of teatree oil

warm it up till the shea butter melts.

add twice as much aloe vera gel as the total amount of oil. For example if you end up with a half cup of oil, stir in a cup of aloe gel. Mix or shake upntil blended and creamy.

apply to hair and/or skin as needed. Hope this helps.
