Over weight = itchy skin?

ive been gaining weight over the last year... could that make my skin itch in places where im getting fatter???

Over weight = itchy skin?
Yes. Sometimes when you gain weight your skin starts to stretch and get stretch marks, which makes the skin itch. Try applying cocoa butter lotion daily (it's like 1-2 bucks at any drug store) to make skin more pliable, reduce stretch marks and get rid of the itchiness.
Reply:if you're getting stretch marks, they can sometimes itch more.
Reply:You could have a thyroid problem such as Hashimoto's. That would explain the itchy skin and the weight gain.
Reply:Be sure you're cleaning yourself very well, drying your skin well, and applying a moisturizer. If you live in a cold climate, the dry air at the time of year will cause your skin to dry out and itch.

Why are you gaining weight? As mentioned, you could have a thyroid problem. You could also have a kidney problem; the build-up of wastes in your system will cause itching. You could also have liver disease, especially if the fat seems to be only in your abdomen, which will cause itching too. When was your last physical? Sound like you need to see a doc, just to have things checked out.
Reply:Sounds like a thyroid problem, contact an endocrinologist.
