Itchy skin - Nothing Helps?

I have an itch. It starts from the small of the back where the buttocks begins. That exact spot nothing helps, except cortizone lotion. Then the Itch works its way up my entire back.

I tried Alegra, Claritin, Gold Bond Powder, lotion from the dermatoligst, and the best over the counter products. Nothing really helps form more than a few hours. Please help I am not able to sleep.

Itchy skin - Nothing Helps?
You're having an allergic reaction to something ........ new clothing, perfume, soap, laundry powder ????? Any of these could be the culprit.

In the mean time get rid of the itch ??? You bet!! Just put 1/2 cup vinegar into a warm bath of water. Lay in it and soak for about 10 - 15 minutes. This will return your skins ph to its correct level of about 7.

The chemicals and toxins we are exposed to in today's environment/ products sometimes strip the acid mantle on our skin, by soaking in a diluted vinegar bath this will return the ph level of your skin to normal. For future reference, change your bath soaps, shampoos, conditioners, talc powders, perfumes, lotions, aftershaves etc.etc., anything that comes into contact with your skin, to chemical and toxin free products. May cost a little more to start with, but hey, what price comfort, health and sanity ????

Reply:Talk to your dermatologist again. Or find another one that is willing to expand the tests for other things.
Reply:Pls see a dermatologist about this. If your insurance requires it start with your primary care dr. In the mean time try and see if maybe applying an ice pack might numben the area some might be of help.
Reply:what about calamine lotion or take a salt bath before bed
Reply:Seek out a Nuerologist.

I have this same problem only it travels down my legs instead of up. It sounds like a nerve problem. Mine drove me insane until I went to the Nuerologist.

He prescribed me a drug that has taken away the insane itching as well as the pain I was experiencing....as long as no one touches my lower back right above the buttocks, then I start in with itching again.

Maybe speak with your dermatologist and ask first if this could possibly be a nerve issue...but it sounds a lot like what I went through.

~hugs and good luck~
Reply:try Benadryl both the cream (rub on) and the tablet (take orally)
