I used the clearasil 10% benzoyl perxide cream for pimples and now my skin is itchy, red, and has a million bumps around one pimple. I think I am allergic to the cream. Anyone know how to get rid of the irritation? I will take any advice given to me.
I used the Clearasil 10% benzoyl peroxide thing and my skin is itchy and inflamed and puffed Help!?
If you think you are having an allergic reaction, first thing to do is wash your face good with a mild soap and warm water. Then apply some benadryl cream. It will reverse the allergic reaction by the antihistamines in the cream. If you dont want to put the cream on your face, then I would advise taking a benadryl pill for the same benefits of the allergy.
Reply:it's not necessarily that you're allergic, just that your skin is senstive to chemicals!
i only use all natural products to help w/ my sensitive acne prone skin.
burt's bees has a blemish stick made w/ different oils.
Reply:clearasil is the worst acne brand benzoyl peroxid causes skin to get worst before it get beter than worst again then clear/ benzoyl peroxide can cause skin cancer/neutrogena is way betr than clearasil
Reply:he products you are using, are they Salsylic Acid or Benzoyl peroxide? BP can be VERY drying. I personally like SA better. Salsylic acid it really good. It is in almost all acne washes. Benzoyl Peroxide is too drying for me! Try finding a face lotion with SA in it. Clean and Clear has a good moisturizer with SA and it helps keep pimples at bay. It is only about $5 a bottle and lasts about 2 months and you can get it at your local store. I have used this in the past and it works well. Personally, I use Biore products (which you get over the counter. Their products range from $5-$10). They are harsh on pimples, but not on your face.
Personally, Proactive didn't work for me. I have been using Biore products for over a year and I hardly ever break out! Occasionally I will get one or two, but nothing bad. I use Biore Ice Cleanser and warming facial scrub every morning. And then 3-4 day s a week I use Biore purging pore cream scrub. For body acne I use Neutrogena acne body wash I never break out on my body. It gets 110 in summer so sweat in inevitably, yet I never break out. Give it a try. All of it is cheap too. About $5-10 depending on what you buy! Salsylic acid it really good. It is in almost all acne washes. Benzoyl Peroxide is too drying for me! I think you will just need to experiment with products until you find what works for you. Remember, it can take 1 month for products to fully begin working! Good Luck!
Reply:10% Benzoyl Peroxide is the strongest stuff out there....so chances are its too strong for your face to handle. The regular stuff is 2%. Switch to Nuetrogena Advance Solutions its like $20 and works a lot better than any Clearasil product and even better than Proactive. Trust me I've used all of these products and nothing has worked as well as this Nuetrogena product.
Nuetrogena Advance Solutions is a small 3 product kit with a free fast acting blemish remover. It consits of a face wash and a day lotion and night lotion. The face wash is 0.5% Salicylic Acid and the Lotions are made of Octinoxate 7.5% and Zinz Ocide 2.94%.
Reply:You have what it sounds like sensitive skin clearsil and some other products have harsh chemicals i am the same way my skin turn red and feels like it is burned and sometimes gets dry but I use natural products check out thebodyshop.com they have all kinds from any skin type even for sensitive skin you might want to try grapeseed it works for me. I hope it gets better before trying anything different to reduces swelling and redness apply milk to your face for a little bit i know it sounds stupid but it helps if your allergic to oils and products.
Reply:Yikes! 10%! That is strong stuff as you well know by now! I have the same reaction to the 2% stuff. You need something milder for that sensitive skin. When my skin did that number with me, I mixed witch hazel with hydocortizone (5%) to make a runny paste/cream and put it all over my face and let it soak for about 20 minutes then patted it off with plain witch hazel. Then I used original Oil of Olay to moisturize the skin. I did this twice a day until my skin calmed down. Benedryl water based creme can help if it is an allergic reaction.
Use something milder like Nuetrogena for the pimples, good luck, hun.
