Tanning - really itchy skin?

ive been tanning 4 times in the last week or so... and my chest and back get really itchy a few hours later... i know that possibly im having an allergic reaction to the lotion im using during tanning, so if i dont use my lotion the next time i go tanning, will that effect how well i will tan, or is it kinda vital for me to use a lotion when i tan? can i use like a normal moisturizing lotion like maybe just on my chest when i go tanning, to help it....

Tanning - really itchy skin?
No. You are getting sunburnt. Stop tanning so much! Your body is telling you to get out of the sun.

Get a clue greenisthecolor, you WILL get skin cancer if you keep tanning 4 times a week and at the least lots of ugly wrinkles. It's worse for your skin than smoking.
Reply:i know this is sort of unrelated, but... please don't tan. i just had two suspicious-looking moles biopsied today and im in pain and i wish i DIDNT use a tanning bed. other than that try showering asap after tanning, maybe that will help. i doubt its an allergic reaction in just a part of your body. good louck!
Reply:Anything that moisturizes your skin and keeps it from drying out will work! The tan lotions just accelerate the tanning! The ones with tingle affect bring your blood to the top level of your skin which causes you to tan quickly! The after affects of the tingle can cause your skin to become itchy, but it's fairly normal because your skin is just regulating itself again!

I would suggest to try not using the tanning lotion for a while, just use a really good moisturizer, my sister uses baby lotion, because she's allergic to the tan lotions! If that helps the itching, then you've found the problem! If not, then it's probably just your body's reaction to the tanning bed process! If it's unbearable you may need to stop! I have heard of people who can't get in tanning beds because they have an allergic reaction type affect!

Good luck!
Reply:You do need to use tanning lotion to get the best results and to keep your skin moisturized. You probably just need to buy a new tanning lotion. Maybe just a sample this time to try it out first. Also it is very important that you use regular body lotion once or twice a day to keep your skin moisturized. This will help hold you tan longer and help with the itchy stuff.

Happy Tanning!
Reply:It sounds like you are sunburn, and it has nothing to do witht he lotion that you are using. Sunburn results from too much sun or sun-equivalent exposure.

"If you are tanning yourself eight or more times a month, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. -- if you are baking yourself, this is going to affect you..

Mild and uncomplicated cases of sunburn usually result in minor skin redness and irritation. Untreated and with enough exposure, you can experience shock (poor circulation to vital organs) and even death. Sufficient exposure can become remarkably painful.
