Cracked, itchy skin...HELP!!!?

Ok so a couple of years ago the side of my right thumb began itching like crazy, and so I would scratch it, but then I would notice my skin starting to crack there, and then peeling. I know, it's gross. Since then, it's happened about once every month or two, and it's also occured on the side of my middle finger on my left hand. Any ideas, mainly what this is, how I might have got it, why it's just on those two fingers, and how I can get rid of it? Thanks!

It sounds like a type of fungus....you really should get it diagnosed by your doctor to rule out anything serious.

If the result turns out to be negative, then they rule out fungal infection and try to find out other causes for this.
