Every night I use a ton of lotion on my legs and arms and yet, around 4:30 or 5 am - sometimes earlier! I wake up itching everywhere. I use lotion again and again, but it just won't stop!!! I use Jergen's lotion for extra dry skin. i have noticed that I change my bed sheet more often than usual it helps. But what can I do in the mean time.. I am just dying at night !!
Very itchy skin - pls help. I can't sleep ! Aaaggrrrr?
I would suggest you are either allergic to your laundry detergent, or dust mites, which live in your bed and home. Change the detergent, and possibly get an allergen bed pad or cover for your mattress and see if that helps by keeping the dust mites out.
Edit: I'm more convinced its the dust mites than the detergent because you said it gets BETTER the more you wash your sheets. So, I would pretty strongly recommend the mattress cover.
Reply:did you stop and think that maybe for some reason, you are allergic to your laundry detergent, and the constant rubbing of the detergent is irritating your skin??? i's switch brands, and I hope it helps!
Reply:use avenno lotions and soaps and a hydrocortisone cream or calydryl
Reply:your contagious...stay away
Reply:yes i think it is the soap change it and it will stop
in 2 days
Reply:First off, up your water intake to 3-4 more glasses a day. Hydrate your body. Dr. Sholls has an oatmeal soap and bath soak that work great for dry itchy skin. Check your soap. No perfumes or fake coloring! Lotion, something light, spend a little extra. !00 % cotton sheets, and make sure when you do put on lotion, that it has absorbed. When I use those plastic sponge/scrunchy things with my soap it irratates my skin terrible, too much exfoiliating. Hope you get some relief soon. The others are right too, check your laundry soap, The doctor told me cut the amount used in half and never clorine bleach, only color safe bleaches.
Reply:Everybody is asking for help today, but you are't giving all the details kids!
Is this a new condition? Are you living with this for years?
You got poison Ivy? WHAT??
I'm guessing you've tried an Aveno Bath?
They make it in several different formulas and beleive it or not, the oatmeal bath is often the best at releiving "ICH" from ivy and poison oak aswell !
There is also good old Epsom Salts !
A real strong - hot bath in that is good for drying out your skin from any rashy, pusy, scabby alergic reaction to pine, cedars cat scratches ect. ect.
Next up is Gold Bond Medicated Powders !
There are several formulas of this also for whatever ails ya?
Clean cotton sheets without any scented softeners in the dryer will usually be your best bet on the bed as flannel and perfumed sheets often aggravate your skin !
You might try satin or silk?
I can't think of anything else except you go see a dermatologist !
Sorry...but I don't know what's buggin you ? :(
