i started going to the tanning bed last week and i went quite frequently. i used a bronzer lotion and i ended up getting quite red and burned. after a day or so the burn calmed down and i only felt slightly warm and uncomfortable. then i started to notice that i was itching really bad all over, and it is a constant severe itch. my skin does not appear red, dry or bumpy -- it just looks tan. but this itching is driving me crazy. i've used unscented lotion, tried a warm bath, and even tried aloe but nothing is stopping the itch. its very uncomfortable and frustrating. i haven't even gone back to tan since friday and now it's monday and the itch has not gone away. can someone please help me, i'm desperate!
Itchy skin after tanning?
Skin can itch after getting burned. It is normal. It will go away in about 1-2 days. I hate it too... Don't worry. There is nothing you can really do except wait it out. :(
Reply:You might be allergic to the lotion, unless it is a tingle type (they tend to get VERY hot!) When tanning, you should be using lots of moisturizer (plus aloe if you are a little burnt), once in the morning and once at night, plus using a lotion while tanning. The "fake" sun does the something to our skin as "real" sun, dries it out. It's most likely NOT an allergic reaction. I go tanning about every other day, and afterwords, burnt or not, I put on tons of 100% aloe vera gel, not the kind with lidocaine. Works wonders for me. Good luck.
Reply:It sounds more like an allergic reaction to something in the bronzer. Take some Benadryl to help with the itching, and don't use that same kind of bronzer anymore. If it doesn't clear up on its own in a few more days, see a dermatologist.
Reply:Sounds like your skin is dried out from all the tanning. There is a lotion available (Lubriderm I think) called a "Calming Lotion" for itchy skin. You might try that or Calamine Lotion. Also, drink a lot of water to hydrate yourself. Benadryl might also help.
Finally, I have to add that tanning beds and lying in the sun are so incredibly bad for your skin and potentially bad for your health. It will prematurely age you and can also cause skin cancer. The best way to get a tan is from a bottle.
Reply:probably, allergic reaction to the lotion, or it could be a bad burn.i suggest u stop immediately, and go to the doctor before it gets worse
Reply:Your chances of getting cancer goes up %75 percent if you use a tanning bed before the age of 45..
Cancer isnt very attractive,
